Saturday pool opening up in the air

Metro Wire Staff

The Donald Copps Municipal Pool & Waterslide Complex may not open Saturday as planned.

In an announced made by the City of Stevens Point via Facebook, the pool’s main filter has sprung a leak.

“The opening date cannot be determined at this time,” the post reads in part.

When it does open, the pool will be open for lap swimmers at 8-8:50 a.m. and 12-12:50 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 1-4 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. daily for public swimming. Theme nights have been included throughout the season, which ends Aug. 18.

The pool closes when the temperature is below 65 degrees, during lightning and rain storms, or for the threat of violent weather.

The city pool is located behind the Parks and Recreation Department at 2442 Sims Ave. in Goerke Memorial Park.
