Scott Sankey has been named “Moose of the Year”.

The award was given by Moose Family Center #1572 during a recent fundraiser held lodge, 1025 Second St. North.

Sankey participated in numerous activities for the lodge, to include the organization’s 4th of July and Holiday parades, helping run the Moose concession stand stationed at UWSP’s Homecoming, and delivering Christmas baskets to families in the Stevens Point area.

Sankey, 48, along with some of his Moose friends, also helped serve a meal for the first annual
Central Wisconsin Down Syndrome Awareness Walk in Wausau, which took place Sept. 29.

According to a news release from the Moose, Sankey frequently assists with functions in the lodge’s reception area and social quarters, making him eligible for nomination as Moose of the Year with the Wisconsin State Moose Association.

The Stevens Point fraternal organization was also given an Honorable Mention as being one of the best Community Service Lodges in the country for 2017-18.

The Moose Family Center is celebrating its Centennial in 2018 and has multiple public activities planned. Women of the Moose will hold a flea market, called “Bullwinkle’s Bazaar,” at the lodge on Oct. 20. The WOTM is also hosting a Charcoal Painting event on Nov. 17.
