Rosholt quilting group donates handmade warmth to local shelters

STEVENS POINT – The Faithful Knotters-WELCA (Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America), a quilting group based out of Faith Lutheran Church and North New Hope Lutheran Church in Rosholt, has donated 20 handmade quilts to area shelters, offering warmth and comfort to those in need as winter approaches.

The quilts will support the Stevens Point Warming Center, run by Evergreen Community Initiative, and the soon-to-open Monroe House.

The Faithful Knotters, who sew both at their homes and at Faith Lutheran Church in Rosholt, have already sent more than 120 quilts overseas this year in addition to their local contributions.

“It’s wonderful to have such generous people in our community,” said Mayor Mike Wiza, who recently visited with the group, in a press release he penned himself. “These lovely ladies even taught me how to do some pinning and tying. I cannot thank them enough for helping those in need, right here in our city.”
