Rose Marie Archibald (née Pobiecke), 97

On Friday, Dec. 23, Rose Marie Archibald (née Pobiecke), mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, peacefully passed away surrounded by family. She was 97 years old when she passed.

Rose was born in Knowlton, Wis.; the daughter of Michael and Elizabeth Pobiecke. Rose was known for her love of gardening, roses, bicycling in her later years, being active in her church community, her love for Elvis, dancing, and most of all her 17 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was the daughter of a farmer and the wife of a soldier for 43 years (the late Harry Willard Archibald). She had a quick and onery spirit and everyone knew she was a force like no other. Rose always lived simply and wasn’t caught up with the trappings of life but what she did have was a hard-working spirit, a fierce love of family, and was unashamed in her convictions.

Rose leaves behind her dear sister Cecilia Jonaitis and was proceeded in death by her parents, and her siblings Joseph Cvik, Edward Cvik, Elizabeth Pobiecke, John Pobiecke, Anne Padilla, Paul Pobiecke, Veronica Pobiecke, Michael Pobiecke, her daughter-in-law Linda Archibald, her great-grandson Weston Henderson, and her two great-great-grandchildren Leonardo and Gavin Archibald-Smith.

She also was loved by her five children, Edwin Archibald (Debi Durch), Darlene Marie Archibald, Priscilla Clendenning (Tom), Rosemary Perron (Robert), and Michelle Bruesewitz (Scott). Rose’s legacy was her family and the passionate spirit that lives in them all.

The memories she leaves behind are countless and because of that, she can never be forgotten.

We celebrate her life in a funeral mass at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 150051 Mead Lane, Mosinee, on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2022, at 11 a.m. Father James Trempe will officiate.

Visitation is on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church, with a rosary being held at 9:15 a.m. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
