Kawski was born July 7, 1944, in Stevens Point, to the late Steven and Susan (née Ostrowski) Kawski. He grew up in the area and attended local schools.
Following high school, he worked alongside his father at Vetter Manufacturing, later known as SNE and Crestline. He built windows and worked on the assembly line until retiring at age 66. On Nov. 5, 1966, he married Mary A. Callows in Stevens Point. They shared 52 years of marriage before her death on July 16, 2019.
Kawski was a hardworking man who enjoyed spending time with his family. He also loved working with his hands—farming, repairing cars, and gardening. As a boy, he began helping on his uncle’s farm and continued into adulthood. He shared a passion for classic cars with his son and went hunting with his younger son, Todd. He and his wife also shared a love of horses. Kawski took pride in having the biggest garden on the block.
He is survived by his sons, Royce “Roy” A. Kawski and Todd A. Kawski; and two granddaughters, McKenna Sky Kawski and Shaylin Rae Kawski. He is also survived by three sisters, Lori (Conrad) Bluma, Elaine Janiszewski and Phyllis Studinski.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a sister, Gloria Kawski; and a brother-in-law, Michael Janiszewski.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff of Marshfield Medical Center in Weston, especially both shifts of the cardiac teams, for their care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Kawski’s memory.
Shuda Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
