Riverfront Arts Center plans demos, talks and workshops through Oct. 19

STEVENS POINT, Wis. — The Riverfront Arts Center’s “Studio” exhibition pairs gallery viewing with hands-on learning and artist insight now through Oct. 19.

Weekly activities include hand-appliqué quilting demos with Roz Schuettpelz on Wednesdays from 3–5 p.m.; mosaic demos with Erin Prais-Hintz on Fridays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and artist talks with Twinky Satterthwaite every Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 10 a.m., where participating artists will discuss their process.

Two special workshops are also on the calendar: Cate Thomding’s “Upcycling and Thread” on Sunday, Oct. 12, from 9:30 a.m. to noon ($40), and a full-day watercolor workshop with Roberta Laine on Sunday, Oct. 19, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. ($100). Space is limited; call or email the RAC to reserve a spot. Payment is due at sign-up.

The RAC also hosts an Art Journaling group every third Wednesday from 1–3 p.m., open to anyone interested in sharing work, process or practice in a relaxed setting. Story Time for all ages is offered on the last Wednesday of each month from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The Riverfront Arts Center, 1200 Crosby Ave. in downtown Stevens Point, is free and open to the public. Regular hours are Wednesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and weekends, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. (closed on holidays and between exhibitions).
