Richard “Rich” L. Spreda, 68

Richard “Rich” L. Spreda, of Stevens Point, passed away on May 30, 2023, at his happy place up north, at the age of 68.

Rich was born May 3, 1955, in Stevens Point, the son of James and Regina (née Kabachinski) Spreda. He grew up in the area and attended local schools. From a young age, Rich was a sports fan and enjoyed astronomy and music.

After graduating from Pacelli High School in 1973, Rich entered the workforce as a lab technician in the paper industry.

Rich’s love of sports followed him into his adult life as well as into fatherhood as a way to spend time with his children, Stacey and Ryne “Stoney.” While he was a die-hard fan for the Marquette Warriors, the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago Bulls, and the Green Bay Packers, he took great pride in being actively involved in sporting events within the community.

He enjoyed being a coach, referee, and umpire for area youth and adult sports. Outside of sports, Rich had a wide array of leisure activities to pursue; from an amateur cigar aficionado to gardening and feeding his neighborhood critters. Rich also dedicated time to volunteering and enjoyed helping out at the Stevens Point Brewery events as well as at the hospital.

While Rich was an active man, he was also quiet and kept to himself. However, he never let that stop him from sharing his sense of humor with those he loved; he loved to laugh, almost as much as he loved going up north to his cabin to enjoy nature and fishing.

Rich is survived by his daughter, Stacey (Jared Heindl) Spreda; grandson, Elton Heindl; and granddaughter, Karter Danielski. He is further survived by his brothers, Mike (Kathy), David (Geri), and James (Darlene) Spreda; and many nieces and nephews.

Rich was preceded in death by his parents, James and Regina; his son, Ryne “Stoney” Spreda; and a brother and sister-in-law, Patrick and Terri Spreda.

A funeral service for Rich will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Shuda Funeral Home, 3200 Stanley St., Stevens Point. Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until the time of service.
