The Stevens Point Area Retired Teachers’ Association will kick off its fall book sale Wednesday, Oct. 16.

The sale runs through Saturday, Oct. 19, and will be held on the first floor of the Children’s Museum Building, 1100 Main St. in Stevens Point.

Sale hours are noon to 7 p.m. Wednesday; 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday; and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

The fall sale involves additional shelving in the non-fiction room, which holds titles from environmental science, music, home improvement, foreign language, trivia, and politics.

The sale also holds a large selection of fiction, children’s books, and teaching materials.

The SPARTA sale will again be held in two areas separated by the main hallway leading to Main Street at the front of the building and a city parking lot to the back. Nonfiction, CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes, albums, sheet music, and the Priced Area are located in one room and fiction, children’s, parenting, teacher materials and puzzles are in rooms across the hall.

Children’s books are $0.25 for softcover and $0.50 cents for hardcover. Most adult and young adult books are $1 or less. The Priced Area holds fiction and nonfiction and higher-priced children’s books. Prices are $3 and up and are based on a portion of current value.

A $5 bag sale will be held Saturday, but items can also be purchased individually.

SPARTA will once again award two scholarships endowed through the Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin.

Profits also fund grants to nonprofit groups or organizations in Portage County that directly impact students’ and seniors’ lives.
