The Tomorrow River Community Virtual School (TRCVS) is now enrolling students for the 2021-22 school year.

The virtual school opened in fall 2o17 and offers tuition-free programming to pre-kindergarten through eighth-grade students throughout the state.

The school is attractive to traveling families and, and could also appeal to those who are interested in homeschooling

“Interest spiked this last year as families looked for alternative methods of education while navigating life with children in a pandemic,” a news release from the school reads in part.

Students receive instruction via the internet by a DPI-certified teacher. Specials classes, such as Spanish, practical arts, and music, are delivered via a virtual classroom as well.

Families are invited to participate in field trips throughout Wisconsin and are encouraged to attend festivals at the school’s physical site in Amherst Junction.

TRCVS was the second school to open under the umbrella of the Tomorrow River Community Charter Schools (TRCCS) located at the Central Wisconsin Environmental Station in Amherst Junction, 15 miles east of Stevens Point.

The school occupies the summer camp during the off-season and utilizes the cabins as classrooms. TRCCS has launched a middle school (TRCMS) that is also currently enrolling students.

All schools are guided by the Waldorf Cre Principals in their curriculum. The century-old principals focus on delivering the same academic standards found in traditional schools with non-traditional methods while “encouraging curiosity and wonder for the world.”

Singing, art, movement in nature, and practical life skills are all part of the daily activities a Waldorf student experiences and learns through.

Visit trcvs.org or trccs.org for more information. Open enrollment ends April 30.
