Raymond L. Kudrna, 89

Raymond L. Kudrna, 89, of Plover, died Nov. 23, 2024, at Whispering Pines Assisted Living.

Raymond was born on Jan. 25, 1935, in New Hradec, North Dakota, to the late William and Eleanor (née Barta) Kudrna. He grew up in the area, attending local schools and graduating in 1953.

On Feb. 25, 1963, he married Leota Eberts in Dickinson, North Dakota. The couple later moved to Stevens Point, where they raised their four children.

Raymond was skilled in woodworking, a trade he learned from his father. While he enjoyed the craft as a pastime, his true passion was caring for animals. As a farmer, Raymond nurtured a wide variety of animals and cherished them as much as his family.

Survivors include his four children, Kelly (Sue) Kudrna, Sheila (Ron) Anderson, Rhonda (Ron) Stauss, and Kurt (Sue) Kudrna; three grandchildren, Savana Stauss, Kellen (Amanda) Stauss, and Nelia Stauss; and two great-granddaughters, Wren and Aurora Stauss.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Leota, and his parents.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Humane Society of Portage County at hspcwi.org in lieu of flowers.

A funeral service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2024, at Shuda Funeral Chapel, 3200 Stanley St., Stevens Point. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place earlier that day at 10 a.m. at St. Bronislava Parish Cemetery.
