RAC sets story time, collage exhibit and final Arts Walk

STEVENS POINT — The Riverfront Arts Center has several free events planned in the coming weeks, including a story time with a local author, a new exhibition and the final Arts Walk of the year.

Local author Ken Blomberg will be featured during the center’s next free Story Time at 11:30 a.m. on the last Wednesday of the month. Blomberg will share work celebrating nature and Wisconsin’s special places.

A snack and hands-on activity will follow the reading.

The arts center is also accepting submissions for “CTRL+C, CTRL+V, Collage,” an upcoming exhibition featuring collage and assemblage.

Artists can drop off work Sept. 3-4 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The exhibition will be on display Sept. 10 through Oct. 18, with an opening reception from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10.

The center is also preparing for the final Arts Walk of the year, scheduled for 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, in downtown Stevens Point. Participation is free, but artists are asked to RSVP as soon as possible.

The Riverfront Arts Center, 1200 Crosby Ave., is free and open to the public. Summer hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The center is closed on holidays and between exhibitions.
