Public’s help sought in finding stolen cemetery sign

Stevens Point police are seeking help from the public to locate a stolen cemetery sign.

The metal gate sign at Union Cemetery, which is adorned with the date “1927,” was temporarily removed for tree trimming operations, and on or about May 14, was taken from the cemetery by an unknown person or persons.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the sign should call Officer Jason Smith at the SPPD, 715.346.1500. Callers are asked to reference case No. C20-03668.

Union Cemetery is located at 2501 Water St. between Koch and Francis streets. It was established in 1853 and taken over by the city in 1935.
