Public invited to informational meeting on Isadore rebuild

By Brandi Makuski

City officials on Wednesday will present details of a reconstruction project scheduled to begin in June on the Isadore St. corridor.

The project includes completely rebuilding the Isadore St. roadway, between Portage St. and Maria Dr., along with new curb, gutter and sidewalks. The project was approved by the common council last year as part of the city’s 2018 capital projects.

Public Works Director Scott Beduhn said the $1 million project does include some painted bicycle stencils on the new asphalt roadway—known as “sharrows”—to remind motorists that bicyclists can also use the road, but “not to the extent we did on Prentice St.”

“We’ve actually got some underground utilities that are on university property, and we’ll be relocating those into the [public] right-of-way,” Beduhn said.

The meeting is scheduled for Wed., April 18, 7-6 p.m. inside the Community Room at the Stevens Point Police Dept., 933 Michigan Ave.
