Protesters rally outside the post office

Metro Wire Staff

A “Save the Post Office” rally was held in front of the Stevens Point Post Office, 1320 Main St., on Aug. 22.

According to Amherst Junction resident Mary Wegner, about 50 people were present for the peaceful rally, which is also seeking the resignation of U.S. Postmaster General Louis DeJoy.

DeJoy has come under fire in recent weeks as his office recently warned election officials in 46 states and the District of Columbia that it could not guarantee that all mail-in ballots would arrive in time to be counted as it continues to grapple with financial troubles, delivery delays and an expected surge of mail related to the 2020 election.
