Prevail Bank shred event raises $1,297 for CAP Services shelter

STEVENS POINT — What started as a chance for residents to safely dispose of old paperwork turned into a donation for a local nonprofit.

Prevail Bank recently presented a $1,297 donation to CAP Services’ Women’s and Children’s Shelter following its Community Shred Day event in Stevens Point.

The bank pledged to donate $1 for every pound of paper collected, up to $1,000. Community members responded by bringing in about 2,000 pounds of documents for secure destruction and recycling. Participants also contributed an additional $297 in cash donations, bringing the total gift to $1,297.

A check presentation was held at the bank’s Stevens Point branch, where representatives from Prevail Bank presented the donation to CAP Services family crisis staff.

“This event was a win-win,” Branch Manager Dejonna Lake said. “We helped people protect their personal information while supporting a cause that makes a real difference right here in our community.”

The annual event gives residents an opportunity to securely dispose of sensitive documents while supporting a local cause. This year’s proceeds will help support services provided through CAP Services’ Women’s and Children’s Shelter.

Prevail Bank said community involvement remains a key part of its mission, with events like the shred day serving both a practical need and a charitable purpose.
