Prevail Bank shred event raises $1,190 for local crisis center

STEVENS POINT — A community shred day hosted by Prevail Bank in Stevens Point turned paper into support for families in need, raising $1,190 for CAP Services’ Family Crisis Center.

Prevail Bank pledged to donate $1 for every pound of paper shredded during the June event, up to $1,000. Community members responded by bringing in 1,500 pounds of documents for secure destruction and recycling. The bank fulfilled its $1,000 pledge, and public donations added another $190.

“This event was a win-win,” said Dejonna Bates of Prevail Bank. “We helped people protect their personal information while supporting a cause that makes a real difference right here in our community.”

A check presentation was held at the bank’s Stevens Point branch. Accepting the donation was Kathy Junion, shelter coordinator for the Family Crisis Center.

The event was one of nine shred days hosted by Prevail Bank this year, which collectively resulted in nearly 9 tons of paper shredded and $11,387 donated to local nonprofits.

Prevail Bank, which operates branches across central Wisconsin, says it remains committed to supporting community initiatives through fundraising and volunteer efforts.
