POTD: Raising funds for Stevens Point’s finest

Metro Wire Staff

Stevens Point police officers stop by a lemonade stand operated by the Cisewski family on June 25.

Haylee Cisewski, 10 (center), helped organize the fundraising project with her mom, Stacey, along with several siblings and cousins, in front of their home on the 2400 block of Dixon St.

The group sold cookies and three flavors of cold lemondade to passersby, with funds to benefit the Stevens Point Police Department K9 Unit.

The following day, the group presented Chief Martin Skibba and Assistance Chief Michael Rottier with a check for $150.

The SPPD installed its K9 unit in April 2018 with a goal of raising $50,000 in donations to pay for training, equipment, and two dogs, Belgian Malinois named Luna and Fala. Rottier said the department is a little over halfway to that goal.
