POTD: Getting ready to spread Christmas joy

Metro Wire Staff

Some of the sites are already prepped for A Very Plover Christmas, which kicks off Friday night at 5 p.m.

Several sites in the Little Plover River Park, 1501 Hoover Ave., were dressed Friday morning for the first-annual Christmas light display. It’s Plover’s answer to a village Christmas display, and a way to engage families during the holiday season amidst a pandemic.

Families will be asked to remain in their vehicles as they drive past various Christmas light displays, constructed by local businesses and community organizations.

The event will take place Dec. 4-12 from 5-9 p.m. A special mailbox for letters to Santa will also be placed along the route.

Motorists need to enter from Chippewa Dr., and will exit on Hoover.

Santa Claus will be onsite on Dec. 5, 6, 11, and 12, from 5-7 p.m. Plover police are also expected to “arrest” the Grinch.

Admission is free but donations of nonperishable food items will be taken to benefit Plover’s Interfaith Food Pantry.
