Portage County taxpayers reminded of Jan. 31 property tax deadline

PORTAGE COUNTY– Portage County Treasurer Pam Przybelski is reminding residents that the first installment of 2024 property taxes is due by Jan. 31.
Taxpayers should direct payments based on their property location. Payments for properties in Stevens Point should be made to the city’s comptroller/treasurer. Residents in the towns of Almond, Belmont, Eau Pleine, or Lanark should pay their respective town offices. For properties in all other municipalities, payments should be sent to the Portage County Treasurer.
Payment options include:
- Mail: Send checks or money orders to the Portage County Treasurer’s office at 1516 Church St., Stevens Point, WI 54481. To receive a mailed receipt, include a self-addressed, stamped envelope. Mailed payments must be postmarked by Jan. 31.
- Local Banks: Payments can be made at Community First Bank (Rosholt), International Bank of Amherst, or Pineries Bank (Stevens Point) by Jan. 31.
- In-Person: Visit the county treasurer’s office, open weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., to pay by check, cash, money order, or credit card. Fees apply for credit card transactions.
- Online: Pay via credit card or e-check at the county’s website. Additional fees apply, including 2.39% for credit cards, $3.95 for Visa debit cards, and $1.50 for electronic checks.
Payments made after the Jan. 31 deadline will incur a 1.5% monthly interest and penalty on the unpaid balance, beginning Feb. 1.
