Portage County Public Library offering another week of free summer activities

STEVENS POINT — From storytime and Dungeons & Dragons to a self-guided StoryWalk, the Portage County Public Library has another full week of free activities planned for children and teens as its Summer Library Program continues July 13-18.

The summer program, themed “Unearth a Story,” runs through Aug. 29 and includes events at all four library branches. Readers of all ages can also take part in the library’s Summer Reading Challenge by logging reading minutes through the Beanstack app for a chance to earn prizes.

The week’s schedule begins Sunday, July 13, with Teen Dungeons & Dragons at 4:30 p.m. at the Stevens Point branch. The program is open to students in grades 6-12, with registration required. New players are welcome.

Family Storytime will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 14, at the Stevens Point branch, Tuesday, July 15, at the Rosholt branch and Wednesday, July 16, at the Plover branch. The Plover storytime will be held outdoors if the weather cooperates.

Visitors can also enjoy the StoryWalk at the Plover branch throughout the month. The self-guided activity features a children’s book displayed along a walking path around the library grounds and is open to all ages.

All Summer Library Program events are free, with craft supplies provided when needed. Some programs require advance registration. Residents can contact any Portage County Public Library branch for more information.
