Portage County Library to kick off week of Summer Library Program events

STEVENS POINT – The Portage County Public Library has released a packed schedule of free activities for kids and teens as part of its Summer Library Program, running June 23–30.

This year’s theme, “Color Our World,” will guide a variety of interactive programs across all four PCPL locations—Stevens Point, Plover, Rosholt, and Almond. All events are free and open to the public, with no registration required unless noted.

Here’s a look at the week’s activities:

  • June 23, 4 p.m., Stevens PointTeen Time: Delicious Delights – Teens will make and enjoy food creations.

  • June 24, 10:30 a.m., Stevens PointFamily Storytime – Aimed at preschoolers but open to all.

  • June 24, 5:30 p.m., PloverShuffle and Deal – Classic card games for ages 5 through 5th grade, with an adult.

  • June 25, 10:30 a.m., RosholtFamily Storytime – Open to all ages.

  • June 25, 4 p.m., RosholtTeen Time: Little Bitty Libraries – Teens create miniature books and pocket-sized libraries.

  • June 25, 4 p.m., Stevens PointBrick Central – A building challenge for families. Registration required.

  • June 26, 10:30 a.m., PloverFamily Storytime – Held outdoors, weather permitting.

  • June 26, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., Stevens PointDiscovery Days: On a Roll – Crafting with recycled paper rolls.

  • June 26, 4 p.m., AlmondShuffle and Deal – Classic card games for ages 5 through 5th grade, with an adult.

  • June 27, 9:45 a.m., Stevens PointBaby Storytime – For newborns to 17 months; siblings welcome.

  • June 27, 10:30 a.m., Stevens PointFamily Storytime – Open to all ages.

  • June 27, 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., PloverDiscovery Days: Petals & Metals – Activities with gears, flowers, and metal pieces.

  • June 27, 4 p.m., RosholtDiscovery Days: Petals & Metals – The same event offered at the Plover branch.

  • June 28, 10:30 a.m., Stevens PointFamily Storytime – Designed for preschoolers, but all are welcome.

In addition to the weekly programming, two ongoing activities will continue through August 30:

  • Summer Reading Challenge – Readers of all ages can log their minutes using the Beanstack app for a chance to win prizes.

  • StoryWalk – Featured at the Plover and Rosholt branches, the walk encourages families to enjoy stories while walking outdoors.
