Portage County Historical Society plans fifth annual Lagers and Loggers fundraiser

STEVENS POINT — The Portage County Historical Society will hold its fifth annual Lagers and Loggers fundraising dinner Oct. 7 at the historic Pfiffner Building.

The event, the historical society’s largest fundraiser of the year, begins at 5 p.m. with an outdoor social hour. The evening will include live bluegrass music from Art Stevenson, a silent auction and lumberjack-themed activities.

“We are so grateful that this event is entering its fifth year,” PCHS Executive Director John Harry said. “This area cares deeply about its history and the role PCHS plays in preserving it, and that shows in this event.”

Chef Christian Czerwonka will again cater the dinner, working with Point Brewery brewmaster Mike Schraufnagel to create food and beer pairings for the event.

Proceeds support the historical society’s work to preserve Portage County history, including thousands of artifacts in its collection and its operation of Heritage Park in Plover and the Rising Star Mill in Nelsonville.

The event is sponsored by the Boldt Company, KPR Brokers and Point Brewery.
