Popular ‘Fairy Tale Ball’ adds afternoon time slot

By Patrick Lynn

Children of all ages can rejoice: a popular fairy tale ball event is being held twice in one day at the Sentry Grand Ballroom.

Sponsored by the Playhouse Theatre Group and Dance Education Center, the formal ball will feature 35 “beloved, authentic, and well-known fairy tale characters from far, far away”, according to a press release from Playhouse.

“The Fairy Tale Ball is an enchanting and magical time for the whole family—it is an experience like no other,” the press release reads in part.

Children can dress as their favorite fairy tale character; adults are encouraged to wear ballroom attire but should refrain from wearing costumes.

The event includes character meet-and-greet opportunities, dancing, dessert tastings, and a special craft area.

The balls are scheduled for 12:30-3 p.m. and 6-8:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2019. Both events are expected to sell out quickly.

Tickets are $20 for children 12 and under and $25 for adults and can be purchased at www.playhousetheatergroup.com. Anyone who has already purchased a ticket for the evening ball but would prefer the afternoon event should email [email protected].

All proceeds from Playhouse events benefit local theatre opportunities, scholarships, and helping the support the performing arts in Portage County. Last year, Playhouse and DEC donated over $15,000 in new instruments to the Stevens Point Area Public School District.
