Police & Sheriff’s calls, August 3

Noisy neighbor: Police were called to the 400 block of Michigan Ave. at 12:51 a.m. when a neighbor reported loud music from another tenant. The suspect, a 37-year-old woman, agreed to turn it down for the night.

Suspicious: Police were called to the 900 block of Second St. at 3:11 a.m. when a caller reported a suspicious man sitting in a vehicle. The man was gone when the police arrived.

No lights: Deputies gave a verbal warning to a 22-year-old man at mile marker 157 on I-39 for not having taillights at 4:56 a.m.

Hold your horses: A 49-year-old woman called deputies to report horses in the roadway on the 7800 block of County Trunk D in Almond at 8:22 a.m.

Theft: A 54-year-old man reported to police that someone stole his wallet off the bar at Elbow Room, 1321 Second St., at 9:04 a.m.

Waiting: Police stopped to check on the welfare of a man sleeping in his truck that was partially parked on the road at Cleveland Ave. and Lora St. at 9:11 a.m. The man, 64, said he was waiting for the food pantry to open.

Creepy cooler: Police were called to the 600 block of John’s Dr. at 1:55 p.m. when a caller reported finding a cooler “with a lot of flies around it.” The cooler appeared to be full of rotten meat and the officer moved the cooler to the dumpster.

Theft: Police cited two women, ages 22 and 59, for retail theft at Trigs, 1600 Academy Ave. No further details were released.

Crash: Police cited a 53-year-old man for failure to yield right-of-way while making a left-hand turn at Church and Nebel streets.

Missing: A 57-year-old man called police to the 1200 block of West Whitney St. at 5:55 p.m. to report he was unable to locate his child. The kid was found a short time later playing disc golf with friends.

Fight: A 24-year-old man was arrested from the 400 block of Michigan Ave. at 6:52 p.m. on charges of battery, probation violation, and two counts of domestic abuse.

Fire: Deputies assisted Hull firefighters when a vehicle caught fire on I-39 just north of the Casimir Rd. exit at 7:24 p.m. No injuries were reported.

Drunk: Police stopped to conduct a welfare check on a known 63-year-old man sitting in a vehicle on the 5700 block of Windy Dr. at 9:45 p.m. The man was intoxicated and agreed to ride his bicycle home and return the next day for his vehicle. 

Probation hold: Police arrested a 33-year-old man after a K9 dog found cocaine in his vehicle near Jackson Ave. and Patti Dr. in Plover at 10:33 p.m. The man was also cited for operating while suspended and operating without insurance.

Go away: Police were called to the 1300 block of Portage St. at 11:11 p.m. when a neighbor reported hearing loud arguing from a home there. The residents refused to answer the door and told police to “go away.”
