Police & Sheriff calls, September 4-5

September 4
Speedracer: A 22-year-old woman called police to Industrial Park Rd. and Leahy Ave. at 8:18 a.m. to report that every morning she drops her child off at daycare, another woman, age 32, speeds in the area.
Slick: A 38-year-old woman called police to the 800 block of Bliss Ave. at 8:57 a.m. to complain that she suspected her 60-year-old female neighbor had “messed with her vehicle” because it was leaking oil. The officer suggested that the woman have her vehicle checked by a mechanic to determine whether the leak was the result of normal wear and tear.
Homeless and no place to go: Police received a call about a man sleeping on the Clark St. bridge at 9:08 a.m. The man, identified as a known 39-year-old, said he had previously been cited for sleeping in city parks. Officers advised him it wasn’t very safe to sleep on a bridge, and he was advised to move along.
Speed: An 18-year-old man was cited for operating without proof of insurance and issued a written warning for speeding at 9:28 a.m. near West Clark St. and West Zinda Dr.
Who knows: Police were called for “school issues” on the 1500 block of Rapid River Run St. in Plover at 9:37 a.m., but all details about the call were redacted from the blotter.
Whoa, Speed Racer: Police cited a 22-year-old man for driving without insurance and speeding 35 miles over the speed limit at River View Ave. and Coon Ave. at 10:29 a.m.
Who knows, again: Police arrested a 32-year-old man on charges of drug possession and bail-jumping at 2 p.m. near Main and Chase streets, but the details of the call were redacted from the blotter.
Drinkin’ at school: Police were called to Ben Franklin Jr. High at 2:45 p.m. when it was discovered that four juveniles were “found to be sharing alcoholic beverages during the school day and on school grounds.” The kids, whose ages were redacted from the blotter, were given “school consequences” and referred to law enforcement.
Tampering: Police were called to Target, 5300 Hwy. 10 East, at 4:19 p.m., to attempt to locate an offender on probation who reportedly tampered with their GPS monitor. The subject, a 48-year-old man, was not located, but charges were forwarded to the DA’s office.
Hit and run: A hit and run was reported near Portage and Third streets at 5:56 p.m.
Trash: Police were asked to conduct a welfare check on the 1400 block of Water St. when someone reported seeing blankets and trash in the area. Officers didn’t find a person in the area and would check back through the night and dispose of the items if they weren’t claimed.
Jerk: Police were called to Second St. and Maria Dr. at 7:51 p.m. when a caller reported a vehicle had been parked just past the roundabout on the east side of Second St. The vehicle’s owner couldn’t be reached, so an officer issued a citation for parking in a no-parking zone.
Maybe an assault: Police were called to the 1900 block of Strongs Ave. at 8:13 p.m. when a 23-year-old man reported a 26-year-old woman had been assaulted. He later said there was no assault. Additional details were not included in the blotter.
Busted at KT: Police arrested a 24-year-old man with an active warrant from Kiwk Trip, 1600 Maria Dr., at 8:36 p.m. Additional details were redacted from the blotter.
Drugs, maybe: Police were called back to Kwik Trip at 8:54 p.m., when a caller reported witnessing a possible drug deal involving a man on a fat-tire bike. Additional details were not included in the blotter.
Lost: Police stopped to conduct a welfare check on an 18-year-old woman at Metro Market, 1500 Pinecrest. Ave., at 9:13 p.m. The woman wasn’t from the area and said she was lost. She was given a ride back to her dorm at Burroughs Hall.
Suspicious: Police were called to the 1100 block of Johnson Dr. at 10:28 p.m. for a suspicious person. It turned out to be someone checking on a unit there, as the renter was in jail and asked the person to do so.
September 5
Homeless: A 44-year-old man was caught sleeping at KASH Park, 1201 West Whitney St., at 12:37 p.m. The man was told to move along and warned to stay out of parks during closed hours.
Whatta camp: Officers found 11 people sleeping at Pfiffner Pioneer Park, 1100 Crosby Ave., at 12:51 a.m. Three people were cited, and all were told to move along.
Homeless: Police arrested a known 56-year-old man for violating his bond conditions, which included absolute sobriety, after he was caught in KASH Park, intoxicated and in possession of alcohol, at 1:06 a.m. He was also cited for being in the park after hours and banned from the park.
