Police blotters sent out by local law enforcement agencies are now far longer, with less than half of the information necessary to produce an informative blotter. Find out why by clicking here. 

September 3

Suspended: A 21-year-old woman was issued a written warning for operating with a suspended registration near Division and Portage streets at 11:30 a.m.

Not fair: A 45-year-old woman reported to police at 11:40 a.m. that she and her husband had made an agreement to split his tax refund jointly, and the husband was backing out of that agreement. Police advised the woman that it was a civil matter.

Welfare check: Police responded to the Salvation Army at 1600 Briggs St. to conduct a welfare check on a known 51-year-old man. All details of the call were redacted from the blotter.

Stalled: Police stopped to assist a 37-year-old male motorist on I-39 near County Hwy. HH, when the man’s vehicle stalled. A tow company was called to remove the vehicle.

Crash: Police responded to a two-vehicle collision at Division and Shaurette streets at 1:33 p.m. One person was cited, but the blotter doesn’t say for what.

Bad start: Police were called to Ben Franklin Jr. High at 2:42 p.m. when it was reported that one student shared a nude image of another student in a group chat.

Neighbors from hell: Police were called to the 100 block of Forest St. North at 2:54 p.m. when it was reported that two women, ages 33 and 52, were throwing dog poop at each other. The younger woman also claimed that the older woman “purposely has her grandchildren run around shirtless to entice/entrap her because she is a sex offender.” No additional context was included in the blotter.

Minor problems: Someone called police to Fifth Ave. and Forest St. at 3:14 p.m. to report a 15-year-old boy was riding an off-road mini-bike with no plates on the roadway. Police advised the boy that mini-bikes weren’t allowed on the road, and that he wasn’t allowed to drive because he wasn’t licensed.

Who knows: A 70-year-old woman called police to Jordan Ln. and Indiana Ave. at 5:30 p.m. to register some kind of complaint about a group of kids, but no details about the incident were included in the blotter.

Passed out on the bus: Police and medics were called to the bus depot at Strongs Ave. and Main St. at 5:44 p.m. when a city bus driver reported an intoxicated woman, 31, had passed out on the bus. The woman eventually awoke and declined assistance.

Temper tantrum: Police were called to the 600 block of Johns Dr. at 5:56 p.m. to conduct a welfare check on a child who was “having a temper tantrum.” The child was OK, but additional details were redated from the blotter.

Fight, we think: Police were called to Centerpoint Dr. and Third St. at 6:53 p.m. when someone reported a physical disturbance. One woman, 37, was arrested for charges not included in the blotter.

Dog problems: Police and humane officers were called to the 1400 block of Torun Rd. at 7:02 a.m. when someone reported one neighbor’s dog had bitten another neighbor’s dog. Additional details were redacted from the blotter. Police were called back to the area at 7:49 p.m. when it was reported that another neighbor had let their dogs run loose on the street.

Drugs, we think: Police were called to Dollar Tree, 5474 Hwy. 10 East, at 8:58 p.m. when a 25-year-old woman reported finding drugs in the dumpster. No additional details were included in the blotter.

Dumpster diver: Police were called for suspicious activity on the 1000 block of Third St. at 9:10 a.m. The trouble turned out to be an 18-year-old man dumpster diver, who was advised by officers to obtain permission before digging through the dumpsters.

Checking for squatters: Police conducted extra patrol on the 2500 block of Church St. at 9:23 p.m. to ensure nobody was living in the storage units there.

Hit and run: A 62-year-old man reported a hit and run at Country Club Dr. and Main St. at 9:40 p.m., but no evidence of a crash was found.

Dumpster divers: Police responded to Harbor Freight Tools, 5423 Hwy. 10 East, at 10:05 p.m., for suspicious activity. They found two men dumpster diving behind the store. The men were told to move along.

Trespasser: Police were called to the Salvation Army, 1600 Briggs St., at 10:38 p.m., for a report of a known man who had received a “lifetime ban” from the facility, but had returned. The man was told to move along and warned that he’d be cited if he returned.

September 4

So busted: While on patrol at 2:04 a.m., police observed that patrons were still inside Frank and Ernie’s Bar after closing. The bar was cited for violating closing hours and for failure to post its current liquor license. Additional details were redacted from the blotter.

Nice try: Police were called to Kwik Trip, 1600 Maria Dr., at 2:30 a.m. when an employee reported a known man, 45, was attempting to gain entry to vehicles in the parking lot. When questioned, the man claimed he thought one of the vehicles was an Uber ride he’d ordered. Police were called back “multiple times in a short period of time” for similar behavior, and ultimately, the man was arrested on a probation hold.

Who knows: The city forester called police to Seramur Park, 1401 East Ave., at 7:33 a.m., to report a property crime, but not a single piece of information about the supposed crime was included in the blotter.
