Police & Sheriff calls, September 26-27

September 26

Scrape: A 47-year-old man called police to Sentry, 1800 North Point Dr., at 9:58 a.m. to report a scrape and dent on his vehicle.

Anybody would be mad: A 71-year-old man called police to the 2900 block of Linbergh Ave. at 11:04 a.m. to report that someone hacked his email and transferred six of his Green Bay Packers tickets to an unknown person.

Fraud: A 66-year-old woman reported she’d been the victim of fraud at 11:16 a.m., but all details were redacted, so we can warn you what to watch out for.

Counterfeit: Police were called to Portage County Bank, 5417 Vern Holmes Dr., at 11:23 a.m., when a teller reported that a customer’s deposit contained a counterfeit bill. Additional details were redacted.

Problems: Police were called for a domestic disturbance on the 1700 block of Plover St. at 12:01 p.m. when a caller reported her adult daughter was causing a disturbance. Officers gave the woman a ride to the Salvation Army.

Hrmm: Police were called to Old National Bank, 640 Division St., at 12:24 p.m., when an employee reported a suspicious couple at the ATM. The man told officers he was “trying to figure out his PIN number.”

Dog bite: Police responded to the 1000 block of Brawley St. at 1:24 p.m. when it was reported that a 42-year-old woman was bitten by a dog. The humane society was called, but additional details were redacted from the blotter.

Creepy: Police responded to the 1400 block of Water St. when someone reported that a man, whose age was not included in the blotter, was watching people with binoculars. The man was told to stop because “it’s creepy.”

Fraud: Police were called to the 700 block of John’s Dr. at 2:54 p.m. when a 51-year-old woman said he’s been defrauded of $100, but additional information was redacted from the blotter.

Just needs a drag: Police were called to the 2600 block of Indiana Ave. at 3:33 p.m. when someone reported a homeless 27-year-old man was digging through an ashtray on the property. The man was trespassed.

Grow up: A 25-year-old woman called police at 5:04 p.m. to report she’d been threatened by another woman, 22, on Facebook. Police attempted to contact the younger woman to tell her to stop.

Noise: Someone called police to Seramur Park, 1401 East Ave., at 6:52 p.m. to complain that a man was listening to loud music. The man, 34, “happily” turned it down when advised of the complaint.

Darkness falls: A 16-year-old girl was issued a warning for driving without headlights near Division St. and College Ave. at 9:51 p.m.

Wannabe: Police issued a warning to a 49-year-old man driving with blue lights on a non-police vehicle near Division and Oak streets at 10:14 p.m.

‘Strangers’ situation: A 19-year-old man called police to the 1000 block of Prentice St. at 10:37 p.m. to say that a short time before, a “random girl” came to his door and asked his first name. Once he gave it, she hit him, calling him a “bastard” and a “rapist” before walking away.

Kids and lights: Police issued a warning to another 16-year-old girl for driving without headlights and without proof of insurance on the North Point Dr. roundabout at 10:54 p.m.

Bouncer attack: Police were called to Brick Hause, 1343 Second St., at 11:06 p.m. when someone reported that someone struck a bouncer. No additional context was included in the blotter.

September 27

Iconic problems: Police issued a warning for open intoxicants outside of Icon, 956 Main St., at 12:32 a.m., and again at 12:40 a.m. No additional details were included in the blotter.

Busted on a warrant: Police found a known man, 27, with an active warrant sitting on the downtown square at 1:06 a.m. and took him into custody.

Overloaded: Police stopped a car with too many passengers at Division St. and College Ave. at 2:14 a.m. The driver, 21, was warned for driving without headlights and having more people than seatbelts in the car. The extra people walked home.

After-hours fight: Police responded to Politos Pizza, 960 Main St., at 2:37 a.m., for a fight after seeing one man “get pushed out of the front door” of the establishment. No additional details were included in the blotter.

Jerk: Police were called to an apartment complex on the 500 block of Second St. North at 11:46 a.m. when someone noticed a stranger with two dogs walking behind the building. The caller asked the man to leave because it was private property. The man responded, “I know my rights,” and told the caller to call the police. The man then walked away. The caller wanted the man banned from the property.

Whatta bleeder: Police stopped a 22-year-old woman for driving behavior near Michigan Ave. North and Maria Dr. at 12:13 p.m. The woman told police she sneezed, and her nose “started to gush blood, so she accidentally swerved.”

Who knows: Police were called to the 200 block of Fourth Ave. at 2:37 p.m. for a theft complaint, but all details were redacted from the blotter.

Not a disturbance: Police were called to Mead Park at 3:58 p.m. when someone reported a disturbance involving people yelling. Upon arrival, police found no disturbance, only a church group handing out sandwiches.

Bad neighbors: A 50-year-old man called police to the 1800 block of Madison St. at 6:26 p.m. to report that his daughter was parked on the street in front of a neighbor’s home due to some construction, and those neighbors “put rakes and cones in the front and back of her car,” and also left a note on the car that she couldn’t park there.

Wrong house: Police were called to the 1900 block of Elk St. at 6:40 p.m. when someone reported that a 74-year-old woman had “overindulged in alcohol” while at a party, became lost, and entered the wrong home. She then lay down in the middle of Elk and Shaurette streets. She was unable to walk, but was released to a responsible party until she sobered up.

That’s not how this works: Police were called to Water and Shaurette streets at 7:17 p.m. for a vehicle with its hazards on in the middle of the street. The motorist, whose gender and age were not included in the blotter, said they were trying to find a specific address, and backing up past several homes, waving people around them. The officer told them they couldn’t do that, so the motorist agreed to drive around the block.

Long wait: A 59-year-old woman called police at 7:45 p.m. to conduct a welfare check on her husband, also 59. She said the man had gone to pick up a towed vehicle at Kent’s after work, but he had been gone a really long time. Police made contact with the man by phone, and he said he was fine. It just took a long time for anyone to arrive at Kent’s Towing.

You’re not cool: Police cited an 18-year-old man for illegal lights, excessive tint, and wheels too far from his fenders during a traffic stop at Division St. and Fourth Ave. at 9:04 p.m.

More light problems: A 16-year-old boy was issued a written warning for driving without headlights near Church and Heffron streets at 9:06 p.m. The boy’s mother was also contacted.

Dirty pool: Police were called to Brick Hause, 1343 Second St., at 9:45 p.m., when a 33-year-old man broke a 55-year-old man’s pool cue. The older man simply wanted the younger to pay for the damage, which was $100, but the younger man was “too drunk to withdraw [money] from the ATM.”

Holy underagers, Batman: During a routine bar check, police found several underagers being served at The Classroom, 1324 Second St., at 11:33 p.m. Twelve men and women, ages 18-20, were cited under underage drinking in a tavern. The bar owner was also cited.
