September 19

Speeder: A 55-year-old woman was issued a verbal warning for speeding and a “crosswalk violation” at Michigan Ave. and Bush St. at 8:14 a.m.

Domestic: Police were called to the 2900 block of Heffron St. at 8:24 a.m. when someone reported that a 39-year-old man was “upset that charges were being pressed against him” by a family member, even though they were not. No additional details were included in the blotter.

Revoked: Police cited a 28-year-old man for operating while revoked at Indiana Ave. and Bush St. at 8:52 a.m.

Boyfriend problems: Police were called to the 3900 block of Doolittle Dr. at 10:12 a.m. for a disturbance between a man and his girlfriend. The man, 25, was gone when officers arrived.

Hotel problems: Officers were called to Country Inn and Suites, 301 Division St., at 11:10 a.m. when someone reported a disturbance involving some guests. The call was heavily redacted, and no real detail was provided.

Graffiti: Police were called to the 2100 block of Strongs Ave. at 1:44 p.m. for a report of graffiti, but for some reason, all details were redacted from the blotter.

Theft: A 21-year-old woman called police to the downtown library at 2:07 p.m. to report that a 20-year-old woman had stolen her bicycle. The first woman said she wanted her bicycle back and said she planned to press charges.

Crash: Police responded to a two-vehicle collision at Elizabeth Ave. and Hwy. 10 East at 4:55 p.m. No injuries were reported in the blotter, though a 20-year-old man was cited for inattentive driving.

Who knows: Police were called to Forest Cemetery at Cleveland Ave. and Patch St. at 6:15 p.m. for a welfare check, but no additional details were included in the blotter.

Homeless: Police moved several homeless people from the downtown bus stop at 1152 Main St. at 6:48 p.m.

Welfare check: Police were called to a house on the 2000 block of Oak St. at 7:50 p.m. when someone reported a child had been left home alone. Officers learned the child was OK and being watched by an older sibling.

Loiterer: Police were called to Little White Inn, 441 Second St., when a caller reported that a 30-year-old man entered the bar to get out of the rain but refused to order anything. The man agreed to leave when the officer asked him to.

Drunk and driving: Police conducted a traffic stop at Michigan Ave. and Helen St. at 8:59 p.m. when a motorist failed to stop for a stop sign. The motorist, who was not identified in the blotter, was arrested for violating a judge’s order to remain absolutely sober. They were also cited for underage drinking, not having insurance, and driving while suspended.

Litering, we think: Police were called to Five Below, 5601 Hwy. 10 East, at 9:37 p.m., when someone reported a group of people littering. The blotter indicated that “lots of litter” was in the area when an officer arrived, but the one person supposedly responsible for it had already left.

Missing wallet: A 20-year-old man called police to McDonald’s, 127 Division St. North, at 9:30 p.m., to report his wallet was missing.

Stop: A 21-year-old man was cited for failure to yield at Stanley St. and Clayton Ave. at 10:58 p.m.

Lost car, we think: Police were called for a “property crime” at Goerke Park, 1100 Minnesota Ave., at 11:03 p.m. The blotter reads, “Car parked on the street directly in front of Goerke Field and not stolen,” so we’re guessing this was a “Dude, where’s my car?” situation.

September 20

Suspended: A 20-year-old man was given a warning for operating while suspended near Centerpoint Dr. and Second St. at 12:22 p.m. The blotter reads, “[Driver] given a copy of nan-actable 99 after being told it was actable and told to figure it out,” but we can’t tell you what that means or why it was included in the blotter.

Didn’t stop: Police issued written warnings to a 16-year-old boy for having an expired registration and blowing a red light at Clark and Third streets at 12:30 a.m.

Homeless: Police were called to South Point Laundromat, 2501 Church St., at 1:07 a.m. when someone reported a homeless man, 30, who’d previously been banned from the property, sleeping inside. The man was told to move along.

Lights: Police issued a verbal warning to a 28-year-old man for driving without headlights near Union St. and Centerpoint Dr. at 2:05 a.m.

Who knows: A welfare check was conducted near North Point Dr. and Second St. North at 2:14 a.m., but all details were redacted from the blotter.

Property crime: A 66-year-old woman called police to Division and Center streets at 2:09 a.m. to complain that four men were “messing” with stop signs, but no additional details were included in the blotter.

Wrong-way: A 23-year-old woman was warned for speeding, making an improper left-hand turn, and driving the wrong way near Reserve and Main streets at 2:29 a.m.

Wouldn’t leave: While on patrol, officers observed a large number of patrons inside Brick Hause, 1343 Second St., at 2:35 a.m., which is after bar close. After going inside, the officers saw nobody had a drink in their hands, and the staff were yelling for people to leave.

Homeless: Police stopped to check on two men, ages 38 and 42, who were sleeping in the tunnel near the library. Both men were moved along.

Okaaay: Police checked on suspicious activity at Bukolt Park at 2:55 a.m. One woman, 52, was “at the park while her kids were fishing,” but we couldn’t tell you what this meant because no additional details were included in the blotter.

Speeding: A 22-year-old man was cited for speeding near Briggs and Division streets at 7:30 a.m., but no word on how fast he was going.

Speeding: Police cited a 40-year-old man for speeding near West River View Ave. and West River Dr. at 8:02 a.m., but no word on how fast he was speeding.

Lost: A 52-year-old woman reported to police at 10:50 a.m. that her phone went missing at Bukolt Park earlier that day.

Homeless: Police conducted a welfare check on a known 41-year-old man at the downtown library at 11:02 a.m. The man was told to move along.

Bummer: Police stopped to assist a motorist, a 16-year-old boy, at North Point Dr. and Michigan Ave. at 11:49 a.m., when the boy reported his seat belt “snapped.” The vehicle was towed.

Disturbance: Police were called to the 2600 block of Indiana Ave. at 3:52 p.m. when a 33-year-old man reported that a female child had hit someone with a chain. The call was vehicle redacted, so it’s hard to tell you what happened.

Someone dialed 911 for that?: Someone called police to Clark and Division streets at 3:51 p.m. to report that people on the side of the road held signs reading, “You honk and we donate to the food bank,” but police saw nothing unruly.

Homeless camp: Police responded to the 3000 block of Water St. at 7:01 p.m. when a woman reported homeless people camping in the woods behind her home. The people were told to move along.

Unruly Octoberfester: Police were called to Pointober Fest at the Point Brewery, 2617 Water St., at 8:15 p.m. when an unruly man, 29, refused to leave. The man was escorted off the property.

Woah, speedracer: Police cited a 20-year-old man for driving 62 in a 25 mph zone at 8:57 p.m. near Minnesota Ave. and Stanley St.

Party: Police were called to College Ave. and Phillips St. at 9:15 p.m. for a report of a loud party. The tenants were told to quiet down. A similar complaint was made on the 400 block of Fourth Ave. at 9:29 p.m.

Busted bicyclist: Police stopped a 30-year-old man on a bicycle and cited him for failure to stop at a stop sign. He was also warned for operating without lights and without registration.

Almost crashed: Police warned a 17-year-old girl for failure to stay in her lane and unsafe lane deviation after her driving “almost caused an accident” on I-39 near the 161 southbound ramp.

Speeding x2: Police warned a 22-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman during separate traffic stops for speeding at West Clark St. and West Pearl St at 10:28 and 10:56 p.m., respectively.

Shut it down: Police shut down a loud party on the 1700 block of Clark St. at 11:21 p.m.

Troublemakers: Police were called to Rogers Cinema, 2725 Church St., at 11:27 p.m., when a staff member reported someone was shouting in the movie theater and trying to flush paper towels down the drain. No additional details were included in the blotter.

Homeless encampment: Someone reported a homeless camp on the 800 block of Whiting Ave. at 11:35, but no details were included in the blotter.

September 21

Can’t do that: Police stopped a 21-year-old man for having an open intoxicant on the downtown square at 12:55 a.m. The man was issued a warning.

More drinking on the street: Police arrested a 42-year-old man on five counts of bail-jumping after he was caught with an open intoxicant on the street at 12:57 a.m. on the downtown square.

Fight, we think: Police responded to Brick Hause, 1343 Second St., at 1:52 a.m., for what was described in the blotter as “some sort of disturbance,” but no details were included in the blotter.

Spitter: Police arrested a known 31-year-old man for spitting on people at Buffy’s, 1331 Second St., at 2:03 a.m. Details of the call were redacted.

Drunk and disorderly: Police were called to the downtown square at 2:37 a.m. when someone reported a disturbance involving several people, but details were scant due to their level of intoxication and a heavy language barrier.

Drunk and loud: Police responded to the 1200 block of Franklin St. at 2:55 a.m. when they could hear loud voices over a block away. They found multiple people drinking, laughing, and being loud on the porch. The people were told to quiet down for the night.

Shoplifters: An employee at Kwik Trip, 3258 Church St., called police at 6:07 a.m. to report that a group of kids had been hanging around the store at about 8 p.m. the night before and went into the bathroom together. An employee later found several hot food wrappers on the floor of the bathroom.

Warring homeless factions: Police were called to the downtown square at 11:59 a.m. for a disturbance involving several homeless people, some of whom were either “intoxicated or high” and had threatened to burn down another homeless person’s camp.

Welfare check: Police conducted a welfare check on the 2100 block of Elk St. at 12:36 p.m, but all details were redacted from the blotter.

Homeless: Police stopped to move a number of homeless people out of the downtown bus stop at Strongs Ave. and Main St. at 7:15 a.m.
