Police & Sheriff calls, Sept. 6-11

Sept. 6

Fight: Police were called to the 1100 block of Main St. at 1:54 a.m. after a bar fight was reported. Police watched the surveillance video, which showed “two or three” people fighting, but it wasn’t conclusive who was at fault.

Disturbance: Police spoke with a 69-year-old woman suspected of causing a disturbance on the 5400 block of Vern Holmes Dr. at 12:53 p.m. No further details were immediately released.

Warrant: A 37-year-old man with an active warrant was arrested from the 1000 block of Maple Bluff Rd. at 4:08 p.m.

Suspicious Monkey: A caller from the 200 block of Green Ave. called deputies at 9:23 a.m. to report an unknown person had left a stuffed monkey on their back porch.

Sept. 7

Pot: A 19-year-old man was cited for possession of marijuana during a traffic stop for speeding near Water St. and Crosby Ave. at 8:45 a.m.

Theif: Police were called to a residence on the 700 block of Smith St. at 12:01 p.m. after two women, ages 22 and 23, reported someone had stolen items from their residence. No further details were immediately released.

Mailbox Fatality: A 26-year-old man called police at 4:24 p.m. to report someone damaged the mailbox via hit & run on the 1300 block of West Jackson St.

Arson: A 41-year-old man was arrested on a charge of arson, first-degree recklessly endangering safety, and three counts of bail-jumping at 5:17 p.m. following his attempt to burn down a structure on the 600 block of Washington Ave.

Overdose: Officers responded twice to the same home on the 1000 block of Whiting Ave., once at 11:51 a.m. and again at 5:51 p.m., to assist paramedics with a man, 37, who was overdosing on heroin.

Sept. 8

Assault: Police arrested a 28-year-old man for assault on the 1300 block of Second St. at 12:23 a.m.

Bail-jumper: A 33-year-old man was arrested on five counts of bail-jumping from the 200 block of West Clark St. at 6:57 p.m.

Bad Boys: A 43-year-old woman called deputies at 4:18 p.m. from the 7800 block of Rolling Hills Rd. in Custer to report several men were hunting on her property without permission.

Sept. 10

Disorderly: Police were called to the 100 block of Division St. North for a 39-year-old man causing a disturbance.

Sept. 11

Egging: A 56-year-old woman called police at 3:24 p.m. to report someone egged her car on the 900 block of Sixth Ave.

Disturbance: Police cited a 39-year-old man on the 100 block of Division St. for disorderly conduct. The man reportedly left his pants on the ground, then went outside the hotel and fell down the stairs. The man in town for contractor work and was “very drunk.” Police responded to the same man’s room the day before.
