November 3
Drunk: Deputies responded to the 1600 block of Sherman Ave. at 12:21 a.m. for a burglar alarm. It turned out to be an intoxicated resident who activated the alarm by accident.
Mailbox fatality: Deputies were called to the 9500 block of Hwy. 54 in Amherst at 8:52 a.m. when a resident reported several mailboxes had been damaged.
Busted: Police were called to the 3300 block of Echo Dells Dr. at 9:33 a.m. when a homeowner reported someone had damaged his front door while he was out of town. Additional details were redacted from the blotter.
Who knows: Police were called to Ben Franklin Jr. High for “school issues” at 9:52 a.m., but all details were redacted from the blotter.
Cry for help: Deputies responded to Almond School at 10:07 a.m. when staffers reported a student had made comments about hurting themselves via email. While the student did not actually intend to hurt themselves, a detective talked to the student and uncovered poor living conditions at home.
Whacked: Deputies found a discarded weed cutter near the train tracks at Lake Dr. and Old Highway 18 Rd. at 10:52 p.m. After confirming it did not belong to the county parks department or any nearby residents, the deputy logged the item into inventory in case it was reported as missing or stolen.
Speeder: A 16-year-old boy was issued a written warning for speeding at Rachik Rd. and Bukolt Park St. at 11:04 p.m. No word on how fast the kid was going.
Shoplifter: Police were called to Tobacco Outlet, 2830 Church St., at 12:43 p.m., for a report of shoplifting. Details about what was stolen were redacted from the blotter.

Shutdown disaster: A 77-year-old woman called 911 at 5:49 a.m. because she was upset that she hadn’t received a check due to the government shutdown. The woman was advised that it wasn’t a police matter and that she should contact the appropriate entity.
Burner: A 28-year-old man was cited for illegal burning on the 2800 block of Henrietta St. at 9:01 a.m.
Fraud: Police were called to the 900 block of Ridge Rd. at 10:29 a.m. when a 79-year-old man reported fraudulent activity on his credit card.
Who knows: A 41-year-old woman reported a property crime on the 1000 block of Clark St., but all information relating to the nature of the crime was redacted from the blotter.
Repeat trespasser: An 87-year-old man was cited for trespassing on the 1400 block of Torun Rd. at 2:04 p.m.

More problems at Kent’s: Police were called to Kent’s Towing at 3:48 p.m., when a 19-year-old man requested police presence while he talked to an employee about getting his keys back.
Super drunk: Police were called to conduct a welfare check at West Whitney and West Clark streets at 3:49 p.m. Officers found a man, 23, drunk and on the ground in an alley. He was given a ride to a family member’s home.
Scammed: A 31-year-old man reported to police that he’d been scammed on a dating app at 8:55 p.m.
Noisy: A neighbor called police to Mead Park at 10:04 p.m. to complain that a group of homeless people in the park were yelling and playing loud music. Police warned the group to turn the music down and be out of the park by 11 p.m.
