Police & Sheriff calls, Nov. 12-16
November 12
Drugs: A 32-year-old man was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop on Post Rd. at 12:20 a.m.
Whoops: A 51-year-old man called deputies to Hwy. 66 West and Ole River Rd. at 6:20 a.m. to report the bucket fell off the truck he was driving and damaged the front end.
Bad bunny: A 33-year-old woman called 911 at 10 a.m. to report having been bitten by a pet bunny on the 1200 block of Northpoint Dr. The case was referred to the humane society.
Traffic: Police cited a 51-year-old man for operating without insurance following a traffic stop at Dixon St. and Michigan Ave. at 10:47 a.m. His passenger, a 39-year-old man, was arrested for possession of THC, second offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Crash: Deputies and medics responded to I-39 at mile marker 162 at 1:42 p.m. for a single-vehicle crash. The motorist, a 67-year-old man, was cited with operating while suspended, operating without insurance, license restriction violation, and failure to keep his vehicle under control.
Crash: Deputies cited a 28-year-old man for failure to yield at Hwy. 54 and I-39 following a two-vehicle collision.
Failure to yield: Police cited a 17-year-old boy for failure to yield at Third and Water streets at 3:32 p.m.
Crash: A 39-year-old woman was cited for following too closely after striking another vehicle at Michigan Ave. and Simonis St. at 4:13 p.m.
Aggressive driver: Police were called to Algoma St. and Michigan Ave. at 4:50 p.m. when a 41-year-old woman complained that a 24-year-old woman was “driving aggressively”. The younger woman refused to answer the door when the police arrived.
Huge response: Officers from numerous law enforcement agencies responded emergent to the 5900 block of Birch St. at 8:39 p.m. when a 20-year-old woman reported hearing gunshots in the area. Officers did not locate any suspects, victims, or damage.
November 13
Wrong house: Police were called to the 1200 block of Brawley St. at 2:24 a.m. when a 58-year-old man called 911 to report an “unknown drunk male” was passed out on his couch. Police contacted the man’s friends and he was taken home.
Crash: Deputies cited a 67-year-old man on charges of operating under the influence, operating while revoked, operating without insurance, operating after suspension of registration, and failure to keep vehicle under control after the man left the roadway, crashed into a fence, and struck a tree on the 8700 block of County Tk. A in Almond at 5:11 a.m.
Mean: A 48-year-old woman called police to the 3200 block of Church St. at 8:56 a.m. to report a man was “yelling at kids and being aggressive.” The woman only wanted the incident documented in case it occurred again.
Burglary: Police responded to Matsu Ya at 10:33 a.m. when the owners reported cash had been stolen and a door was damaged sometime the night before.
Harassment: A 40-year-old woman called police to the 600 block of Portage St. to report she was being harassed by her ex-boyfriend. The man was warned to avoid the woman.
Theft: A 52-year-old woman called police to report someone stole the rear license plate from her vehicle while it was parked in the BioLife parking lot at 2:14 p.m.
Boned: A 43-year-old man called deputies to report having found a suspicious bone near Dam Rd. and County Tk. E in Junction City at 4:21 p.m. The deputy determined it was an animal bone.
So busted: Deputies were called to County Tk. B and County Tk. T in Amherst at 10:11 p.m. when someone reported a suspicious, large bonfire and a large group of kids in the woods. Several teenagers were cited for underage drinking and deputies found a safe ride home for all who had been drinking.
Hammered: Police were called to the 1100 block of Main St. at 10:35 p.m. when a known man, 64, was found intoxicated and lying in the rear parking lot of a business. He was arrested for bail-jumping.
November 14
OWI: Police arrested a 55-year-old man for operating while revoked and operating while under the influence, second offense, at Clark St. and Minnesota Ave. at 1:56 a.m.
What a jerk: Police were called to the700 block of Portage St. at 6:53 a.m. when a caller reported a 27-year-old man entered the residence and “threw some items around then left on foot.” The man was cited for trespassing.
Crash: A 16-year-old boy was cited for driving too fast for conditions after crashing into a stop sign at Indiana Ave. and Stanley St. at 8:57 a.m.
Troublemaker: Police were called to the 5100 block of Main St. at 9:28 a.m. when a caller reported a 41-year-old man was yelling and causing a scene. The man was taken to meet a safe ride home.
Family fight: Deputies were called to the 8300 block of Klondyke St. in Bancroft at 12:39 p.m. when a caller reported sisters were fighting over their mother’s vehicle and other property.
Public party: An 18-year-old woman called police to the 1900 block of Texas Ave. at 4:30 p.m. to report her neighbors were “smoking weed in the hallway” of the apartment building. Police observed no odor and nothing suspicious when they arrived.
Burnouts: Police responded to the Bukolt Park at 5:11 p.m. when parks dept. employees reported several young people doing donuts on the grass of the park. One man, 19, was cited for disorderly conduct with a motor vehicle.
November 15
Property damage: A 36-year-old man called police to the 2700 block of Chamber St. at 10:04 a.m. to report damage to six semi-trailers on the property.
Truancy: A school resource officer cited a minor for truancy at SPASH, 1201 Northpoint Dr., at 12:59 p.m.
Back to Texas: A 31-year-old woman called police to the 1900 block of Texas Ave. at 6:06 p.m. to report the hallway smelled like marijuana. Police found nothing suspicious upon arrival.
Pokemon Go-home: Police stopped to check on a suspicious vehicle at Conifer Park, near Glenwood and Oakwood avenues, at 8:47 p.m. The motorist, a 35-year-old man, was playing Pokémon Go.
November 16
Eater: Deputies pulled over a 78-year-old woman after receiving complaints of a motorist who was “all over the road” at Torun Rd. and Jordan Rd. at 4:05 p.m. The woman admitted to officers that she’d been eating while driving.
