Snakes, bro: Stevens Point police were called to deal with a homeless camp at Mead Park, 1001 West River Dr., at 8:12 a.m. They began cleaning up the mess, but stopped due to a “large amount of snakes” in the area.
Shippin’ ’em out: Police stopped to check on a 32-year-old homeless man sitting on the front steps of Final Score, 908 Maria Dr., at 9:04 a.m. After talking with officers for a few minutes, the man said he would be interested in returning to his home in Kenosha. Officers worked to get the man a bus ticket.
Homeless problems: Police arrested a known 44-year-old homeless man with an active warrant at Iverson Park at 9:20 a.m. The man was also charged with possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Alternative HS problems: Police were called to the alternative high school at 1025 Clark St. at 9:36 a.m. when a student became upset and kicked a hole through a door. The student, a minor whose gender was redacted from the blotter, was referred for juvenile charges.
Homeless: Police encountered another homeless camp in Iverson Park, 4201 Main St., at 10:51 a.m. The items left behind were disposed of.
Not a creep: Police were called to Washington Elementary, 3500 Prais St., at 10:05 p.m. when someone reported a female student was talking to a suspicious man on a bicycle through the chainlink fence during recess. It turned out to be the girl’s grandfather.
Crash: City police responded to a two-vehicle collision at Hwy. 66 and I-39 at 2:25 p.m. No injuries were reported.
What an animal: A 58-year-old woman called police to the 2900 block of Michigan Ave. to report she’d observed a 73-year-old man striking his dog. The man denied the accusation, and officers saw no obvious injuries on the dog.
Crash: A motorist was cited for following too closely after a two-vehicle collision near County Hwy. HH and I-39 at 3:16 p.m. No injuries were reported.
Bike stop: Police stopped a homeless man, 52, on a bicycle near Crosby Ave. and Portage St. at 3:41 p.m. The man was issued a warning for operating left of center and not having a bike registration.
Trespasser: Police were called to the 600 block of Washington Ave. at 8:03 p.m. when a 61-year-old man reported a known 20-year-old man was trespassing on his property.
Lights: A 21-year-old woman was issued a verbal warning for driving without lights near Division St. North and Schofield Ave. at 9:36 p.m.
Redneck violators: Police were called to Iverson Park at 10:34 p.m. when a caller complained about disorderly vehicles. All of the motorists, whose ages and genders were redacted from the blotter, were warned and told that next time they’d be banned from the park.

Runners: Police were called to the 3700 block of Doolittle Dr. at 1:23 a.m. for a noise complaint. The tenants were told to keep it down, but officers saw three women “jog away” when they arrived. Officers later found the three women in a nearby yard, who said they were scared. All three were over the age of 21.
It’s a drive-up, not a shelter: Police found three known homeless people sleeping under the drive-thru shelter at Associated Bank, 1305 Main St., at 1:59 a.m. All three were “kicked off” the bank property.
Naughty underagers: Police conducted a traffic stop at Division and Briggs streets at 2:23 a.m. and found two 32-ounce malted beverages in the vehicle. One 20-year-old passenger was cited for having an open intoxicant, and another was cited for underage drinking.
Not a break-in: Police responded to a residence on the 1200 block of Third St. at 2:47 a.m. when a 24-year-old man reported a break-in in progress. Upon arrival, officers found no evidence of a break-in. The man later said some of his friends were banging on his door, trying to get him to come outside and fight, but he declined to provide any names.
Vagrancy: Police were called to Olympia Family Restaurant, 200 Division St., at 7:45 a.m. when a known homeless man, age 32, was loitering outside of the restaurant. The man was moved along.
Not a threat: Police were called to the 2800 block of Church St. at 8:16 a.m. when a woman claimed that an older man threatened to rape her. After investigating, officers learned that the man was the woman’s former father-in-law, and he had asked if she wanted to have sex. She said no and asked him to leave.
Help: Police stopped to assist a 41-year-old woman near Brilowski Rd. and County Hwy. HH at 9:37 a.m. when she ran out of gas.
Bad bicyclist: Police stopped a 40-year-old man on a bicycle for failure to yield right-of-way and failure to stop at a stop sign at Water and Mason streets at 11:19 a.m. The man was cited.
Not a punch: Police responded to the 100 block of Second St. at 12:26 p.m. after sounds of distress were heard in the background of a 911 call. Upon arrival, officers learned that it was a 20-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman tickling each other, and there was no emergency. The couple dialed 911 by accident.
Texter: A 23-year-old man was issued a warning for texting while driving near Clark and Cross streets at 1:29 p.m.
Busted biker: Police cited a 22-year-old man for failure to stop at a red light on his bicycle near Michigan Ave. and Prais St. at 1:38 p.m.
You’re fine: Police were called to Aspirus Stevens Point, 900 Illinois Ave., at 3:01 a.m. when a patient, a 61-year-old man, refused to leave after being treated. Upon arrival, officers got the man to leave without incident.
Extra patrol: Police conducted extra patrol, both in a squad car and on foot, at Iverson Park at 3:22 p.m.
Burnouts: Police were called to Iverson Park at 6:41 p.m. when a caller reported a 30-year-old woman doing “burnouts,” sometimes also called “donuts,” in the parking lot. The woman was not present when officers arrived.
Disturbance: Police from Stevens Point and Plover were called to the 1500 block of Green Tree Dr. in the Village of Plover at 8:57 p.m. when someone reported a domestic disturbance. No additional details were included in the blotter.
Crazy ex: A 43-year-old man called police to the 400 block of Clayton Ave. at 9:24 p.m. to complain that his ex-girlfriend was calling him from her new boyfriend’s phone. The man had a restraining order against the woman, but it recently expired, and the man just wanted the issue documented.

Liar: While on patrol near the downtown Square, officers were flagged down by a 21-year-old man near Icon, 956 Main St., at 2:21 a.m. The man claimed someone pulled a gun on him. Officers interviewed and searched several people, but no gun was located. The man later stated that no gun was pulled on them. It wasn’t immediately clear if that man was cited for obstructing an officer.
No dead body: Police received a tip through Crimestoppers at 9:10 a.m. that there was a dead body on the 200 block of Fourth Ave. Officers extensively checked the area and found no dead body.
Fraud: Someone on the 200 block of Pine Bluff Rd. reported fraudulent checks using four different names from the home at 9:40 a.m.
Theft: A 20-year-old woman reported at 1:39 p.m. that someone had stolen her bicycle from the 1300 block of North Point Dr.
More vagrants: Police were called back to Mead Park at 2:21 p.m. when someone reported four known homeless people being vagrants in the park. One person was openly drinking alcohol despite being on probation, and the area smelled like marijuana. The quartet was advised to clean up after themselves, or they’d be cited for littering.
Homeless problems: Police cited two known homeless women, ages 29 and 28, for trespassing on the 1300 block of Main St. at 2:29 p.m.
Pizza Hut blowout: Police were called to Pizza Hut, 417 Division St., at 6:09 p.m. when a 59-year-old man began yelling at an employee because his pizza was cooked below his standards. The restaurant agreed to give the man a new pizza.
A moose attack: Police were called to Zenoff Park, 1001 Second St. North, at 6:28 p.m., when a 45-year-old man reported that several park benches “had been damaged from a prior party that occurred at the Moose Lodge.” Officers are still investigating.
Threats: Police were called to Marshfield Clinic, 4100 Hwy. 66, at 7:14 p.m. when an 81-year-old male patient, who was unsatisfied with his treatment, made threats to kill or harm his nurse. The man was transported home and charged were forwarded to the DA’s office on the nurse’s request.
Pretty big mistake: A 32-year-old woman called police at 7:15 p.m. to report a break-in in progress. Upon arrival, it was discovered that there was no break-in; it was the caller’s own children coming home.
Bizarre: A 57-year-old man called police to report a suspicious motorist on the 2500 block of Nebel St. at 10:34 p.m. A man in a black vehicle entered the mobile home park, parked by a mailbox, and drank a bottle of beer. Officers put the motorists, a 48-year-old man, through a field sobriety exam, which he passed, but they cited him for having an open intoxicant in his vehicle. The man later said he lived in the area but didn’t know it was illegal to drink in his car.
Overserved: Police stopped to check on a 55-year-old man on the 2700 block of Dixon St. at 11:14 p.m. The man said he had too much to drink and tried walking home, but he got tired and sat down in someone’s yard. He was highly intoxicated, and officers gave him a ride home.
