Police & Sheriff calls, May 12-13

May 12

Who knows: Stevens Point police took a report of suspicious activity on the 1500 block of Wisconsin St. at 8:14 p.m. but a good portion of the call was redacted from the blotter.

Disturbance: A 51-year-old woman reported a disturbance on the 400 block of Linwood Ave. at 10:12 a.m. No additional details were included in the blotter.

Arrest: A 42-year-old man was arrested on a probation violation from North Point Dr. and Michigan Ave. North at 2:24 p.m.

Arrest: Police arrested a 48-year-old man on a probation violation from the 1000 block of Arlington Pl. at 2:38 p.m.

Threats: Police were called to Trinity Lutheran Church, 1410 Rogers St., at 3:51 p.m., when a 79-year-old woman inappropriately interacted with the children there.

Disturbance: Police were called to the 2100 block of Water St. at 6:20 p.m. for a disturbance involving a 23-year-old man who had “burned his things and was walking down the road flailing his arms.” Police ultimately conducted a welfare check on the man, but no additional information was included in the blotter.

Disorderly: Officers responded to the 2500 block of Minnesota Ave. at 7:59 p.m. for a domestic disturbance involving one man and one woman, whose names and ages were redacted from the blotter. Both people were taken into custody for reasons unknown.

Smashed: A 29-year-old man called police to the 2100 block of Lincoln Ave. at 8:53 p.m. to report that a 29-year-old woman had smashed his windshield.

May 13

Turtle rescue: While deputies were serving papers to a 35-year-old man near Water and Bremmer streets at 10:44 a.m., they rescued a turtle in the road, releasing it off the roadway.

Threats: Deputies responded to McDill Elementary, 2516 School St. in Whiting, at 2:48 p.m. when a 35-year-old man reported a parent of one student had received threatening messages from another student who was in fourth grade.

Gunshots: A 72-year-old man called deputies to the 9900 block of County Hwy. KK at 7:09 p.m. to report hearing 4-5 gunshots in the area. Deputies were unable to locate the source.

Getaway: Deputies recorded a white sedan traveling 107 mph in a 65 mph zone near Hwy. 10 and County Hwy. G at 9:54 p.m. The deputy was unable to catch up to the vehicle and broke off the chase.
