Police & Sheriff calls, March 24-25

Police blotters sent out by local law enforcement agencies are now far longer with less than half of the information necessary to produce an informative blotter. Find out why by clicking here.

March 24

Stuck: Deputies were called to a slide-in collision on Hwy. 10 near mile marker 235 at 5:39 a.m. The motorist, a 33-year-old man, was cited for operating without a license, third offense, and without insurance.

Stuck in the driveway: Deputies responded to Hwy. 10 East and Algoma St. at 7:07 a.m. when a 44-year-old woman’s vehicle got stuck at the end of her driveway. Two county plow drivers stopped to assist a deputy in pushing the woman’s car out.

Bird-watching: Deputies stopped to check on a 25-year-old male motorist at County Hwy. W and Taft Rd. in Bancroft at 8:10, who was “parked partially in the wrong lane of travel.” The man said he was bird-watching.

Crash: Police responded to a crash on the 800 block of Brilowski Rd. North at 9:06 a.m., but no details were included in the blotter.

Stalled: Police were asked to assist when a 42-year-old woman’s vehicle stalled at the intersection of I-39 and Hwy. 10 East at 9:20 a.m. The woman’s husband, who was the passenger, pushed the vehicle into a nearby parking lot.

Truancy: Police cited a minor, whose age was redacted from the blotter, for truancy at SPASH, 1201 North Point Dr., at 10:01 a.m.

Welfare check: Police were asked to conduct a welfare check at Madison Elementary, 600 Maria Dr., at 10:18 a.m., but no details were included in the blotter.

Hit and run: A 41-year-old man reported a hit and run near Washington Ave. and Second St. at 12:15 p.m.

Who knows: A disturbance was reported at an address that was redacted from the blotter at 12:52 p.m.

Sprayed: A 28-year-old woman called police to the 1900 block of Texas Ave. at 1:27 p.m. to report that someone vandalized her vehicle with blue spray paint. Additional details were redacted from the blotter.

Busted: A 34-year-old man called police to the 2800 block of Minnesota Ave. at 2:42 p.m. to report that an unknown person broke a window and entered his home. Additional details were redacted from the blotter.

Fraud: A 38-year-old woman called police at 5:18 p.m. to report she’d received a call from someone claiming to be a police officer who asked her to verify some of her personal information. Additional details were redacted from the blotter.

Attempted arrest: Police responded to the 2100 block of Dixon St. at 6:41 p.m. to arrest someone with an active warrant, but nobody answered the door.

But was he there?: Police were asked to assist Wausau PD by taking a 40-year-old man thought to be on the 1700 block of Briggs St. into custody at 11:50 p.m. Whether or not the suspect was arrested was not included in the blotter.

March 25

Suspicious: Police were called to the former KFC parking lot at 317 Division St. at 1:06 a.m. for a suspicious vehicle. The motorist needed assistance obtaining a parking pass for a nearby lot.

Drama: Police responded to the 2800 block of Lindbergh Ave. at 1:18 a.m. when someone reported a loud disturbance. Officers learned that a 21-year-old woman was drinking with her sister’s fiance, and when the girls’ father learned about it, he responded to the home to object and head loud music playing. No other details were included in the blotter.
