June 23

Outta gas: Police stopped to assist a motorist near Division St. and North Point Dr. who ran out of gas at 9:51 a.m.

Newbie: A 16-year-old boy was issued a warning for speed, failure to yield, and not having proof of insurance with him near Water St. and Arlington Pl. at 10:16 a.m. Officers also spoke with the boy’s mother by phone.

Seat belt: Officers cited a 32-year-old woman for not wearing a seat belt on the 800 block of Portage St. at 10:32 a.m.

‘Popped’ off: Police responded to a road hazard at Church and Francis streets at 10:35 a.m. when a manhole cover “popped” off. The cover was put back into place.

Crash: Police responded to a two-vehicle collision near Dubay Ave. and Reserve Dr. at 11:23 a.m. A 44-year-old man was cited for following too closely.

Summer school traffic: Police were called to Michigan Ave. and Main St. at 12:09 p.m. when callers complained that traffic was backing up in the right-hand turn lane of Main St. Officers arranged to help with traffic control until summer school ended.

Shoplifter: A 31-year-old man was arrested for retail theft from Best Buy in Plover at 12:48 p.m. No details on what the man reportedly stole.

Bad bicyclist: A 62-year-old man called police to Water St. and Post Rd. at 2:15 p.m. to complain about a 19-year-old male bicyclist weaving in and out of traffic. Officers did not see the bad behavior but notified the bicyclist about the complaint.

Scooters: An anonymous caller reported to law enforcement at 3:05 p.m. that they were concerned about kids on scooters and e-bikes near Green Ave. and East Maria Dr., and was worried that kids were going to get hurt or cause an accident.

Busted at Black Bridge: Police responded to the end of Wisconsin St. at 3:25 p.m. after learning that a wanted man was in that area. The man, 45, was arrested on a warrant. His motorcycle was towed.

Chop shop: Police were called to the 40 block of Ridgewood Dr. in Park Ridge at 3:30 p.m. when someone reported that a known 31-year-old man had been coming to their house with bicycles they believed were stolen, stripping them, and selling the parts.

Almost a break-in: Police were called to the 3700 block of Robert Pl. at 4:57 p.m. when someone reported that someone attempted to break into the building. Two damaged windows were also found. Police continue to investigate.

Gimme a break: A property crime was reported at Skipps’ Bowling Center, 2300 Strongs Ave., at 6:19 p.m., but all details about the incident were, confusingly, redacted from the blotter.

Family issues: Police responded to the 2900 block of Lindbergh Ave. at 7:34 p.m. to address a verbal disturbance between family members.

Needed a Parental Advisory: A 60-year-old woman called police to Sixth Ave. and Union St. at 11:02 p.m. to complain that a group of kids was cussing at her. It turns out the kids were simply reciting vulgar song lyrics.

June 24

Homeless: Police moved along a group of homeless people staying in the bus shelter at Strongs Ave. and Main St. at 12:06 a.m.

Oops: Police responded to a minor collision on the 2200 block of Sims Ave. at 5:59 a.m., when a 21-year-old crashed into a parked car as she backed out of her driveway.

Nice try: A 61-year-old man was cited for impeding an officer after driving away from a parking enforcement employee who was trying to issue him a ticket at Strongs Ave. and Main St. at 8:17 a.m.

Sex offender: A registered 59-year-old sex offender was warned about his proximity to school children in the former Shopko lot at 8:28 a.m. He was also advised not to make threats against city police, so it’s assumed that he did so, even though it wasn’t clearly listed in the blotter. The man was later taken under arrested at his probation officer’s office.

Threats: Police were called to Target, 5300 Hwy. 10 East, at 2:56 p.m. when a woman reported a 24-year-old man was threatening her. No additional details were included in the blotter.

Hacked: A 41-year-old man called police to the 1800 block of Dixon St. at 3:25 p.m. to report that someone hacked his CashApp and that he lost a “substantial amount of money,” though no additional details were included in the blotter.

Family issues: Police were called to Church and Nebel streets at 6:08 p.m. when a caller reported two sisters, ages 48 and 59, were engaged in a physical altercation when one sister began punching the other during an argument over picking up food.

What?: Police stopped a 62-year-old man near Franklin and Division streets because his vehicle was “dragging a tree underneath.”

June 25

More homeless issues: Police found a known homeless woman, age 48, in the bus shelter at Strongs Ave. and Main St. at 12:16 a.m. She was told to move along, and warned that she’d be cited if she returned.

And more homeless issues: Police found a 55-year-old homeless man sleeping outside of Frame Memorial Church at 12:30 a.m. He’d already been warned once and was told to move along immediately. He’ll also be cited if he repeats his actions.

After hours: Police encountered a 59-year-old man in Iverson Park at 1:20 a.m. He was told to move along.

Jerk: Police were called to the 3000 block of McCulloch St. at 6:02 a.m. when a 41-year-old woman was playing her music “very loudly” in her garage so she could learn to play the guitar.

Homeless junk: Police were called to clean up abandoned property on the 1300 block of Main St. at 7:41 a.m.
