Police & Sheriff calls, June 2-3

Police blotters sent to the press by local law enforcement agencies are now far longer with less than half of the information necessary to produce an informative blotter. Find out why by clicking here. 

June 2

School problems: Police were called to Madison Elementary, 600 Maria Dr., at 9:33 a.m. for a disturbance, but all details were redacted from the blotter.

Bad checks:  A 68-year-old man reported to police that he’s received worthless rent checks totaling $1800 from two people, a 27-year-old woman and a man, age 25, at 10:15 a.m.

Trespassing: Police were called to KASH Park, 1201 West Whitney St., at 1:38 p.m. for a trespasser, but no details were included in the blotter.

Busted light: Police took note of a traffic signal that was struck and damaged at Maria Dr. and Division St. at 1:56 p.m. The city’s streets department was called to assist.

Crash: Police responded to a two-vehicle collision at Michigan Ave. and Heffron St. at 2:57 p.m. involving two women, ages 77 and 68. One person was injured and one person was cited, but the blotter doesn’t indicate which.

FBI’er: Police were called to Swetz Roadside Convenience, 2133 Division St., at 4:36 p.m. when an employee reported a woman was using the company’s phone but wouldn’t give it back to the clerk. The woman, a known 46-year-old, told police she was on the phone with the FBI, and she returned the phone when asked to do so by an officer.

Threats: A woman reported to police at 5:11 p.m. that someone had threatened her and her children on the 2100 block of Oak St.

Park problems: Police were called to Sermaur Park, 1401 East Ave., at 5:36 p.m. when a male reported he’d been beaten up at the park. The call was extensively redacted in the blotter.

Trespasser: Police responded to the 1300 block of Briggs Ct. at 5:53 p.m. when a caller reported a known 23-year-old man was inside an apartment complex and was not supposed to be there.

Property crime, we think: Police were flagged down at Dunham Sports, 5601 Hwy. 10 East, at 7:09 p.m. by a person who reported a property crime. No additional details were included in the blotter.

Crash: A crash occurred at 7:20 p.m., but all details, including those involved and the location, were redacted from the blotter.

Park problems, again: Police were called to Seramur Park, 1401 East Ave., at 7:29 p.m. when a caller reported someone making threats against a 37-year-old man at the park. Some details were redacted, but it appears that minors and parents were involved.

Threats: A caller from the 1800 block of Illinois Ave. called police to report being threatened by another person who they asked to turn down music in their car. Some details were redacted from the blotter.

Bright lights: A 33-year-old man called police to a parking lot on the 1100 block of Crosby Ave. to report that there were “people shining lights into his vehicle” at 11:09 p.m. No additional details were provided.

Busted: A 58-year-old woman under a judge’s order not to drink was arrested on a probation violation after a welfare check was performed to check on the woman, who was “highly intoxicated” at a downtown bar at 11:11 p.m.

June 3

Super drunk: A 44-year-old man was trespassing on a property at Patch St. and Industrial Park Rd. at 2:27 a.m. The man was highly intoxicated and was given a ride home.

Crash: A crash was reported at Coye Dr. and Hoover Rd. at 8:41 a.m., but no details were included in the blotter.
