June 12

Theft: A 32-year-old woman called police to Aspirus Stevens Point, 900 Illinois Ave., at 9:48 a.m. to report that another woman, age 57, had stolen a weep vape pen and two packs of cigarettes from her purse.

Tsk, tsk: A 21-year-old man was cited for operating a motorcycle without a valid license near River Rd. and Morgan Rd. in Amherst at 12:31 p.m.

Crash: Police responded to a two-vehicle collision at Clark and Rogers streets at 2:27 p.m. No injuries were reported in the blotter.

Homeless issues: A 48-year-old woman living in an RV in a parking lot at 924 Arlignton Pl. called police at 2:45 p.m. to report “multiple break-ins” with missing property from the RV.

No missing: A worried 59-year-old woman called police to report her 31-year-old son was missing at 3 p.m. The man turned out to be in jail.

Arguing: Police responded to Bukolt Park at 3:11 p.m. when someone reported a verbal argument between two people. They were separated and cooled off.

In flagrante Facebook: A 21-year-old man called police to the 2100 block of Water  St. at 4:09 p.m. to report that several people on Facebook had threatened to beat him up, and that some had shared photos of guns and drugs on their pages.

Crash: A 20-year-old woman was cited for following too closely after a two-vehicle collision at Water St. and Crosby Ave. at 6:22 p.m.

Noisy: Police were called to the 3100 block of Bush St. at 8:40 p.m. when a neighbor complained about loud music. A 38-year-old man was reportedly listening to music while working on his car, and agreed to turn it down.

Grow up: Police responded to the 3200 block of Whiting Ave. at 8:56 p.m. when an 18-year-old woman heard someone yelling for help. After a brief investigation, officers discovered the shouting came from a 25-year-old man who was yelling due to “an intense competitive video game where he needed healers.” The man was warned to keep it down.

Fireworks: Police were called to Kosicshowski Park, 3433 Minnesota Ave., when someone complained about fireworks being shot off. Nobody was found in the park when an officer arrived.

Climber: Police observed someone described only as a “kid” climbing a light pole on the downtown Square at 11:35 p.m. They were told to get down, and they did.

Not a party: Deputies responded to the 5300 block of Hwy. 54 East at 11:41 p.m. when someone complained about an underage party with “60 vehicles in the driveway.” The responding deputy found no cars in the driveway, and the house dark, upon arrival.

Bicyclist trouble: A 36-year-old man on a bicycle was issued a verbal warning for driving his bike after dark without lights near Ellis and Reserve streets at 11:45 p.m.

June 13

Drunk and stupid: People responded to Division and Franklin streets at 12:19 a.m. when two men, both 21, were “messing with [a] construction hold in the sidewalk.” One man was cited for having an open intoxicant, and police left a message for the streets department.

Cookin’ some dogs: Someone complained about a fire on the 900 block of Union St. at 1:11 a.m. The fire was attended by a 42-year-old man who was cooking some hot dogs.

So busted: Deputies responded to Old Hwy. 18 Rd. at 1:55 a.m. for a reported fight between two men. One man, 19, fled the scene on foot and was arrested on a probation hold.

Homeless: Police responded to the Stevens Point Post Office, 1320 Main St., at 8:59 a.m. when they observed a known 40-year-old homeless man sleeping in front of the building. He was told to move along and trespassed from the property.

Crash: Police and deputies responded to a single-vehicle collision at County Hwy. HH and River View Dr. at 2:09 p.m. An 88-year-old man reportedly crashed into a tree line. No additional details were included in the blotter.

Man with a gun: Police were notified of a possible man with a gun in a vehicle at Iverson Park at 3:38 p.m. A high-risk stop was conducted, and one person was arrested.

Late-night landscaper: Police were called to the 2500 block of Welsby Ave. at 9:14 p.m. when a neighbor complained about noise from a 55-year-old man’s property. The man explained he was merely cutting down a few dead branches, and already told his neighbor he would stop shortly. He also said he was confused why the neighbor would call police when he already agreed to stop.

Fleer: Police attempted to stop a motorcyclist at Water and Matilda streets at 11:32 p.m. after complaints that the motorcyclist was speeding 50-60 mph in a residential area. The operator ran a red light and fled from officers, but the pursuit ended quickly. No additional details were included in the blotter.

June 14

Fight: Police were called to Brick Haus, 1343 Second St., at 12:13 a.m. when a caller reported a fight involving several men. Three men were stopped by officers who denied starting the fight, and they also declined to identify the instigators.

More Facebook: A 38-year-old woman called police at 12:29 a.m. to report that a 40-year-old woman was threatening her over Facebook.

Can’t handle his booze: Police responded to Elbow Room, 1321 Second St., at 12:36 a.m. when a 21-year-old man was yelling in the bar. He was advised to stop yelling and go home for the night.

More problems on the Square: A 21-year-old man told police he believed that someone had a gun on the downtown Square, and that a group of men was threatening each other. No gun was located.

Homeless: Police cited an RV parked in the lot at 924 Arlington Pl. at 9:59 a.m. because it had no valid permit.

Bizarre: An anonymous caller reported to police that a group of people was in the parking lot of Point Electronics, 3525 Patch St., at 4:57 p.m., changing brakes on vehicles. The caller was concerned about the people “taking business away from Point Electronics.”

Garage band: Police were called to the 1700 block of College Ave. at 7:49 p.m. when a 48-year-old woman complained about a loud band playing music. The band was playing a live concert. Police told the band to turn the music down, or they’d be cited.

More social media nonsense: A group of minors called police to the 2500 block of Fifth Ave. at 8:13 p.m. to complain about being threatened by text message and social media, and that the suspect was creating new accounts to further harass them.

Not a jumper: Law enforcement was called to West River Dr. and West River View Ave. at 10:41 p.m. when someone expressed concern about a man who might be preparing to jump into the Wisconsin River. It turned out the man was only fishing off the bridge, and everything was fine.

June 15

Homeless: Police stopped to check on a 28-year-old man walking down the road on the 1100 block of Wisconsin St. at 6:24 a.m. after a caller complained he’d been sleeping on someone’s porch. The man was told he couldn’t sleep on people’s porches and was provided with area resources.

More homeless: A known 49-year-old homeless man in a car was parked over parking lines in the former Shopko parking lot in an area with “No loitering” signs posted. The man was playing on his phone in his car. He was told he had to move along.

Homeless after a fire: Police stopped to check on a woman and her children living in a car in a city parking lot at 8:59 a.m. The woman explained that they family was having to live in their car after losing their home in a fire. The officer provided several gift cards to help them out and attempted to find some type of housing help for them.
