July 31

Dirty play: Police were called to Wood Street Rental, 2116 Wood St., at 8:02 a.m. when the 76-year-old property owner reported that someone broke in and spray-painted the wall. No word on what was painted.

Homeless issues: Police were called to deal with “old camps and garbage” scattered throughout the woods near West Clark and West Whitney streets at 8:05 a.m.

Homeless camp: Police were called to clean up an abandoned homeless camp in the bushes at Vice Admiral A.W. Grant Park near the Clark Street Bridge at 8:15 a.m.

More homeless: Police stopped to check on a known homeless man, age 60, at Mead Park to see if he’d taken advantage of alcohol treatment and housing referrals he’d previously been offered. If those didn’t work out, the man said he planned to move back home to Minoqua. Officers said they could help him get there.

Squatter, maybe: Police conducted extra patrol on the 3200 block of Church St., following reports of a female squatter living inside the former Dime and Dollar store.

Homeless: Police checked on a 24-year-old man at Kwik Trip, 3258 Church St., at 10:38 a.m. The man said that while he was employed at a local fast food establishment, he was sleeping on the streets. Officers gave him referrals for housing assistance.

Jerk: Police took a report of a 36-year-old man making inappropriate comments to minor girls at their workplace at 1:04 p.m. The report was made during a walk-in visit to the SPPD and no additional details were included in the blotter.

Vagrants: Police found two people, a 62-year-old woman and a man, age 34, who were loitering at the bus stop near Strongs Ave. and Main St. at 2:47 p.m. Neither was waiting for a bus, and they were told to move along.

Domestic: Police were called to the 3300 block of Orchid Ln. at 7:33 p.m. when someone called 911 to report a woman lying on the floor following a domestic disturbance. After an investigation, the woman was medically cleared and arrested for disorderly conduct and battery.

Banned: Police were called to Metro Market, 1500 Pinecrest Ave., at 7:52 p.m., when a known 69-year-old man was “making inappropriate comments towards employees and customers” of the store. The man was told not to return to the property.

Facebook scam: A woman, whose age was not included in the blotter, contacted police from the 1800 block of Boyington Ave. at 8:05 p.m. to report she attempted to buy a vehicle from Facebook Marketplace, and was ultimately scammed out of $1,700.

For Pete’s sake: A group of men and women, ages 18-24, reported a series of threats occurring online and over the phone from the 200 block of Wilshire Blvd. North at 8:48 a.m.

Wrong-way: A 23-year-old man was issued a verbal warning for driving the wrong way on Main St. at 11:07 p.m.

August 1

OWI: A 24-year-old man was arrested for OWI after a traffic stop for driving without lights at 1:43 a.m. near Second and Franklin streets.

Downtown sleeper: Police found a homeless man sleeping in the doorway of the Franciscans, 1000 Main St., at 2:27 a.m. The man was moved along.

Wrong-way: A 19-year-old man was cited for operating without a license, second offense, at 2:56 a.m., at Main and Third streets.

Homeless trespass: Officers responded to the downtown bus stop at 5:27 a.m. to move along several homeless people. One person was banned from the area after making a mess.

More homeless: A known 23-year-old homeless man was cited for loitering while he was sleeping at the downtown bus stop at 7:28 a.m.

Papers, please: A 34-year-old man was verbally warned for not having a bicycle registration near the downtown square at 8:21 a.m.

Domestic: A 25-year-old man called police to the 4400 block of Pine Ridge Dr. at 8:35 a.m. to say his wife refused to sign divorce papers.

Maybe threats: A 37-year-old woman called police to the 2600 block of Dixon St. at 8:50 a.m. because she feels like her neighbor doesn’t like her and her wife because they are gay. The same woman has reportedly called in unfounded noise complaints against the neighbor. She was advised to keep a record of any problems and to call back if a problem arose.

Catfished: A 57-year-old man called police to Lindbergh Ave. and Heffron St. at 9:31 a.m. to report a suspicious man knocked on his door asking for a woman who did not live there. After a brief investigation, officers learned that the suspicious man had met someone online but ultimately was catfished.

Disturbance: Police cited a 45-year-old woman for battery on the 900 block of Michigan Ave. at 11:28 a.m.

Homeless mess: Police were called back to the downtown bus stop at 1:04 p.m. when a group of homeless people left a mess of paper bags and food after a Plover church dropped off bag lunches for them. One person was verbally warned for littering.

Vagrancy: Police took a report of vagrancy at Pfiffner Pioneer Park at 2:35 p.m., but no details were included in the blotter. Another report was made at Main and Strongs at 2:46 p.m., but again, no details were included in the blotter.

Bad driver: A 30-year-old woman was cited for operating without a valid license, third offence in three years, and not having proof of insurance, on the 600 block of John’s Dr. at 3:17 p.m.

Theft: A 22-year-old woman reported that someone stole her bike from the 2500 block of Fourth Ave. at 4:11 p.m.

Homeless: A 62-year-old homeless woman was found to be sleeping near Main St. and Strongs Ave. at 8:12 p.m. The woman was told to pack up her belongings and move along.

Drunk: Police were called to Baymont Inn, 247 Division St. North, at 9:27 p.m., for a disturbance caused by a 43-year-old man. The man was reported intoxicated, broke his room key, and demanded that he get another room or get a refund. When the police told him to take it up with the manager, the man became belligerent and was banned from the hotel.

August 2

Drunk: Police found two intoxicated men loitering near Chase Bank, 601 Main St., at 12:19 a.m. The men were given a ride home.

Trespasser: Police were called to Kwik Trip, 1600 Maria Dr., at 4:20 a.m., because a 63-year-old man was refusing to leave the store. The man left when officers asked him to.

Homeless: Police found a homeless man sleeping at the Pfiffner bandshell at 4:39 a.m. The man, 24, was on probation and had no place to stay. Officers dropped him off at the Church St. Kwik Trip.

Homeless issues: A known homeless woman, age 62, was cited for littering at Main St. and Strongs Ave. at 6:39 a.m.

Homeless issues: A known 60-year-old homeless man was warned for loitering after police found him sleeping on a downtown bench at 6:45 a.m.

More homeless: Police cited a 62-year-old woman for littering, and a 61-year-old man for driving while suspended in the downtown Shopko parking lot at 8:50 a.m.

Not quite Animal House: Police found a mattress in the bushes next to a homeless camp in Pfiffner Pioneer Park at 9:16 a.m. The items were disposed of.

Leftover: Police found a camo sleeping bag left in the grass near the former Shopko building at 1:44 p.m. The bag was disposed of.

Wow: Police were called to the Kwik Trip on Old Highway 18 Road at 1:54 p.m. when two homeless people, both 33, were trespassing. The officer told the duo that they were “not trespassed” from the woods behind the store.

Driving: A 22-year-old woman was issued warnings for failing to stop at a stop sign and driving without proof of insurance near Water and Park streets at 2:48 p.m.

How embarrassing: Police were called to Koziczkowski Park, 3433 Minnesota Ave., at 3:09 p.m. when someone reported a couple having sex in the park. Officers found the duo, an underage boy and girl, who admitted to only heavy petting. Both were cited for disorderly conduct, and the girl was also cited for possession of a vape. Both were released to their parents.

So busted: A 21-year-old woman was cited near Clark and Division streets at 3:18 p.m. for failure to yield, no insurance, and driving while revoked due to an OWI.

Holey road, Batman: An 81-year-old man called police to Strongs Ave. and Clark St. at 5:44 p.m. to report a “giant hole” in the road. Officers noticed the hole a few days prior. The streets department was notified.

Welfare: Police were called to JR Liquor, 484 Division St., at 7:31 p.m. when a 69-year-old man was causing a disturbance. It turned out that the man was having a medical issue, and he was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Confusing: Police were called to Main and Third streets when a known homeless woman, age 48, was “not being nice to people offering her money.”

Trouble in the dirty store: Police were called to Eldorado’s, 3219 Church St., at 8:35 p.m. when a 33-year-old woman reported a disturbance between two people. The parties were separated and agreed to stay away from each other.

Gone to pot: A 24-year-old woman was cited for possession of marijuana following a single-vehicle collision at West River Dr. and Rocky Run Rd. at 11:51 p.m.
