July 29

Loiterer: Police were called to the 1400 block of Fourth Ave. at 8:07 a.m. when a 39-year-old man complained about a homeless man loitering around the apartment building. The man was gone when police arrived.

Show me: A 34-year-old man was issued a written warning for failure to display his license plates near Green Ave. North and Doolittle Dr. at 8:46 a.m.

Perception: A 32-year-old man walked into the SPPD at 9:03 a.m. to complain an employee at the YMCA was harassing him. The man said he felt like he was being targeted because he was black.

Bad dog: Police were called to the Stevens Point Dog Park and 601 Mason St. at 10:59 p.m. when a 46-year-old man complained about a pit bull in a pink harness was chasing people. The humane society was called. No further details were released.

Dude, where’s my car: A 24-year-old man called police to the 500 block of Bliss Ave. at 11:05 a.m. to report that a black Nissan Murano with Green Bay Packer plates was missing from the property.

Crash: Police responded to a two-vehicle collision at Hwy. and Amber Ave. at 2:39 p.m. There were no injuries.

Bad dude: Police responded to the 400 block of First St. at 3:27 p.m. when a caller reported a 39-year-old man was threatening to shoot a woman in the home. The man was arrested and booked at the Portage Co. Jail.

Uncomfortable: Police were called to Qdoba, 5347 Hwy. 10 East, at 6:37 p.m., when customers complained that a 43-year-old woman was making them uncomfortable. The woman was reportedly approaching customers and was being “weird” and rude to customers and staff. The caller told police the woman had been hanging around the area since 8 a.m.

Sherwood Forest: A 21-year-old woman called police at 7:23 p.m. to report “people drinking and possibly living in the woods behind Metro Market” along a trail that leads to Worzella Publishing at Jefferson St. and Pinecrest Ave. The woman told officers there was activity in the area on and off throughout the day and early evenings.

Suspicious: Police were alerted to a suspicious man hanging around the back doors at the Ruth Gilfry Building, 825 Whiting Ave., at 11:42 p.m. No further details were released.

July 30

Domestic: A 34-year-old woman called police to the 2700 block of Minnesota Ave. at 12:08 a.m. to report a man she was in the process of filing a restraining order against was in her house and refused to leave. Officers advised the man to stay away.

Busted: Police arrested a 25-year-old man for violating his bond condition of remaining absolutely sober at Graffiti’s Bar and Grill, 912 Main St., at 12:57 a.m.

Assault: Deputies took a report of an assault from a 39-year-old woman at 1:28 a.m.

Banger: A 43-year-old woman called police at 3:09 a.m. to report someone was banging on her door.

Illegal eviction: A 35-year-old man came to the SPPD at 7:36 a.m. to report he was being illegally evicted from his East Ave. apartment, and that the locks had already been changed.

Heckler: A 27-year-old man called police to the 1000 block of Main St. at 11:50 a.m. to complain that he was being harassed by another man. Police moved the suspect along.

No camping: A woman called police to Grazies, 5327 Hwy. 10 East to report a woman was “camping” on the restaurant’s property at 12:43 p.m. The woman moved along.

Homeless: Police responded to Veterans Memorial Park, 2340 Church St., at 1:13 p.m., to check on two homeless people sleeping in the park and “scoping out bikes” at the nearby apartment building.

Train-wrecked: Police were called to CN offices at Church and Monroe streets at 1:39 p.m. to report damage to a steam car. No further details were released.

Ongoing theft: A 55-year-old man called police at 2:05 p.m. to complain about ongoing thefts of his fishing fear, oil, and miscellaneous tools from the 700 block of Frederick St.

Bill’d: A guest at LaQuinta Inn, 4917 Main St., called police at 5:12 p.m. to report a pizza order from Bill’s Pizza was left outside the guest’s hotel door without notifying him. The man said when he called to complain, a man on the other end of the phone threatened him.

Rage: A 39-year-old man called police to the 1700 block of Fourth Ave. at 8:28 a.m. to report a 40-year-old woman blocked him from leaving the property by standing in front of his vehicle, physically opened the vehicle’s door, and “slammed” her hand on the vehicle. No further details were immediately released.

Break-in: Police were called to Four Seasons Mobile Home Park, 1430 Torun Rd., at 11:52 a.m. to report a 44-year-old man broke into the management office. No further details were immediately released.

Stolen: A 43-year-old woman walked into the SPPD at 2:58 p.m. to report when she arrived home the night before, the front door on the 800 block of Third St. was open and some of her medication was missing.

Suspicious creep: Police were called to Kwik Trip, at 9:05 p.m., when a 34-year-old woman reported that a 62-year-old man asked her for money so he could “buy food stamps.” No further information was released.
