January 3

Sex offender registration: A 57-year-old man from North Carolina contacted SPPD at 9:30 a.m. to notify police that he was a convicted sex offender who had just relocated to the area and wanted to transfer his sex offender registration to Wisconsin. Police contacted officials in North Carolina, who said they were aware of the move and noted that the man was facing new charges for sex crimes in his home state.

Theft: Police were called to Van Horn Nissan, 301 Green Ave. North, at 10:35 a.m. for a report of a theft. The details of the call were redacted from the blotter.

Crash: A 40-year-old woman rear-ended another vehicle near Michigan Ave. and Main St. at 12:04 p.m. According to the blotter, a soda bottle from the woman’s center console fell and landed behind the brake pedal, and she was unable to stop in time. No injuries were reported in the blotter.

Trespassers: Police were called to Willow Brooke, 1801 Lilac Ln., at 12:14 p.m., when an employee reported that family members of one resident were visiting the facility after houses and utilizing the facility’s laundry. No further details were included in the blotter.

Stalled: Police were called to SPASH, 1201 North Point Dr., at 2:18 p.m., when a school employee reported that a known male juvenile caused damage to a bathroom stall door. No further details were included in the blotter.

Disturbance: Police were called to an upstairs apartment on the 1900 block of Water St. at 3:26 p.m. when a caller reported a verbal argument. Police determined nothing physical had occurred.

HVAC’r: Police were called to the YMCA, 1000 Division St., at 5:37 p.m., when a 26-year-old reportedly trespassed on the property. After “an extensive conversation with HVAC units,” the man was collected by a respite worker.

Crash: A two-vehicle collision was reported at Main and Division streets at 9:20 p.m. No injuries were reported.

Disturbance: An anonymous caller reported to police at 10:06 p.m. that they observed a verbal disturbance between her friend and her friend’s boyfriend while Facetiming the woman on the 2600 block of Indiana Ave. Police found no evidence of a physical disturbance.

January 4

Busted: Police arrested a 56-year-old woman with an open warrant from a room at Day’s Inn, 159 Division St. North, at 8:41 a.m.

Attempted theft: Police were called to Central Wisconsin Credit Union, 2201 Division St., at 2:01 p.m. when it was reported that someone attempted to steal cash from the ATM.

Kids: A 41-year-old man called police to the 600 block of John’s Dr. at 3:36 p.m. to report that a child in his home had received a suspicious text. All additional information was redacted from the blotter.

Gun, maybe: A 28-year-old man called police to First St. North and John’s Dr. at 10:43 to report a fistfight and brandishing of a gun by a 38-year-old man during a dispute over the sale of a motorcycle.

January 5

Mailbox fatality: A 46-year-old man called police to the 3000 block of Bush St. at 12:24 a.m. to report that someone damaged his mailbox, but additional details were redacted from the blotter.

Suspicious: A 66-year-old woman called police to Third and Water streets at 7:18 a.m. to report that someone was calling for help outside her window, but when she went outside, no one was there.

Bad mechanic: A 78-year-old man called police to Hoover Ave. and County Hwy. HH at 10:14 a.m. to complain that a local mechanic installed a tire on his car incorrectly and that it fell off, forcing the car to stop. Officers provided assistance.

Mailbox culprit: A 46-year-old man called police to the 3000 block of Bush St. at 10:54 a.m. to complain that he believed his brother’s girlfriend had run over his mailbox and was “dumping things in his yard,” and that the woman had stopped by his home to yell and him.

Mail bandit: Police arrested a 42-year-old man from the 3000 block of Welsby Ave. at 7:29 p.m. on charges of disorderly conduct, resisting an officer, and two counts of theft from a mailbox.

Same mail thief, different address: Police were called to Willow Springs, 2501 Nebel St., at 8:19 p.m., when someone reported that an employee was injured while attempting to take a 42-year-old man into custody for stealing packages.

January 6

Jumper: Police stopped to check on a 27-year-old woman who jumped from a vehicle after getting into an argument with the driver, a 31-year-old man, near Iverson Park at 12:35 a.m.
