January 21
Patroling for a porch pirate: Police conducted extra patrol along Texas Ave. looking for a man suspected of stealing packages from porches.
Caught: Police arrested a 41-year-old man with an active warrant during a traffic stop at Michigan Ave. and Dixon St. at 8:59 a.m.
Can’t take a hint: Police were called to a hair saloon on the 2600 block of Henrietta St. at 9:03 a.m. because a man previously refused service for his rude behavior towards staff was texting and showing up at the business, unannounced, seeking service.
Crash: A 43-year-old woman reported a crash on the 1700 block of Plover St. at 9:18 a.m., but no information was included in the blotter.
Nabbed: A 31-year-old man with an active warrant was located at Blue Top Motel, 3421 Church St., at 11:38 a.m., and taken under arrest.
Welfare check: Police were asked to check on a person in distress wearing a red jacket near Main St. and Country Club Dr. at 12:40 p.m. No person matching that description was located.
Suspicious: Police were called to the 3400 block of Regent St. at 1:28 p.m. when a caller reported a suspicious black car with a Texas plate driving slowly back and forth in the neighborhood. An officer made contact with the driver, a 35-year-old man who spoke no English. The man had several packages in the passenger seat of his vehicle but no further details were included in the blotter.
Possible frostbite: Police were called to the 1300 block of College Ct. at 6:14 p.m. when a 62-year-old man said he was unable to walk because he was concerned he had frostbite on his toes. No further information was included in the blotter.
Gutsy theft: Police were called to Target, 5300 Hwy. 10 East, at 6:17 p.m. when an employee reported that two unknown people entered the store and stole over $2,000 in merchandise and gift card sales. No further details were included in the blotter.
Property crime: A 43-year-old woman called police to the 1900 block of Water St. at 6:34 p.m. to report her roommate, a 66-year-old man, had trashed her room while she was in jail.
Mail: A 68-year-old woman called police to report she’d located someone else’s mail lying in her background on the 3200 block of Dalaney St. at 7:18 p.m.
Gun, maybe: Police responded to the 1600 block of East Ave. at 8:53 p.m. when a caller reported a family disturbance, possibly involving a gun. No further details were included in the blotter.
Frostbite: Police conducted a welfare check on a known 46-year-old woman standing in the parking lot on the 200 block of Division St. at 11:11 p.m. The woman was believed to be suffering frostbite and was transported for treatment.
January 22
Crash: A 50-year-old woman was cited for an improper turn following a collision with a 28-year-old man at Main and Division streets at 8:11 a.m.
School issues: Officers were called to McKinley Elementary, 2926 Blaine St., at 9:06 a.m. for “school issues.” No additional details were included in the blotter.
Bad employee: Police were called to R Store, 5485 Hwy. 10 East, at 9:19 a.m., when a caller reported that a 26-year-old female employee had stolen something, but what was stolen was redacted from the blotter for reasons unknown.
Who knows: Police were called to Walmart, 250 Crossroads Dr., at 10:30 a.m. for a property crime but no details were included in the blotter.
Threats: Police responded to the YMCA, 1000 Division St., at 10:45 a.m., when a childcare employee reported she was receiving threatening messages. Additional details were redacted from the blotter.
Fraud: A 72-year-old woman called police at 11:27 a.m. to the 1900 block of Strongs Ave. to complain that someone had fraudulently used her debit card.

Welfare check: Police stopped to check on a woman who was standing near the boat ramp at Pfiffner Pioneer Park at 6:18 p.m. The woman said she was fine and just waiting for a ride.
Burner: Police were called to the 1400 block of Torun Rd. when someone reported a man, 52, was burning items in his yard at 7:07 p.m. The man had an active warrant and was taken into custody.
Complaint: A 53-year-old man called police at 10:05 p.m. to report that a city snow plow ran a stop sign at Church St. and Whiting Ave. After reviewing the video surveillance from the area, officers were unable to determine if the vehicle did or did not stop due to a building blocking the view.
January 23
Kicked out of a homeless camp: Officers were called to a known homeless encampment behind BP gas station, 4928 Main St., at 6:45 a.m. when a 45-year-old man told officers he did not want a known 29-year-old woman “sleeping in his camp anymore” because she was swearing to herself, drunk, and a high. The woman agreed to move along and the man agreed to leave her items outside of their shared tent.
Bad intersection: Police were called to a two-vehicle report at 7:17 a.m. between a 72-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy at Church and Nebel streets. No details were included in the blotter.
