January 17
Threats: Police were called to the 2900 block of Dixon St. at 9:52 a.m. when a school employee called to report threats made to a student. Officers went to both students’ homes, talked to them and their parents, and told the students to avoid each other.
Noise: Police were called to the 1600 block of East Ave. at 10:13 a.m. when someone complained about hearing loud music from a block away. The offender, a 23-year-old man, turned the music down as soon as he saw police. The man said he thought there was a timeframe for loud music; police told him there was not.
Juvenile arrest: Police assisted in taking a juvenile into custody for a 72-hour hold. No further details were included in the blotter.
Who knows: “School issues” were reported to police at SPASH, 1201 North Point Dr., at 1:03 p.m. No further details were included in the blotter.
Fraud: Police were called to Auto Select, 3145 Church St., at 1:28 a.m. when an employee reported the business was cheated out of $2,172.55. No further details were included in the blotter.
Suspicious: Police were called to Holiday Inn, 1001 Amber Ave., at 1:55 p.m. for a suspicious incident involving three people, but all details were redacted from the blotter.
Redacted, for some reason: A collision involving a 96-year-old woman and 80-year-old man was reported at Taco Bell, 5400 Hwy. 10 East, at 2:15 p.m., but all details about the call were redacted from the blotter.
Vapers: Police issued a warning to a juvenile found in possession of a vaping device at Ben Franklin Jr. High at 3:16 p.m.
Trying to help: Police were called to the 2100 block of Welsby Ave. at 5:27 p.m. when a 61-year-old woman reported that her daughter’s boyfriend was attempting to take her daughter’s medication.
Disturbance: Police were called to Illinois Ave. and Stanely St. at 8:35 p.m. for a verbal disturbance between a woman, age 33, and a 38-year-old man.
Nonstopper: A 22-year-old woman was issued a warning for blowing a stop sign, and having busted brake light at Water and Brawley streets at 9:34 p.m.
Welfare check: Police were called to the 2900 block of Minnesota Ave. to conduct a welfare check after a 41-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man got into an argument over the man’s infidelity. Additional details were redacted from the blotter.
Disturbance: A 36-year-old woman reported to police that a physical disturbance occurred earlier in the night on the 2700 block of Sunset Blvd. at 9:38 p.m.
Attempted break-in: Police were called to the 1600 block of River View Ave. at 10:36 p.m. when a caller reported that two people, a 21-year-old woman and a man, age 24, were trying to break into an apartment. The woman was taken under arrest.
January 18
Threats: Police were called to the 1700 block of Center St. at 11:31 a.m. when a caller reported a restraining order violation.
Noise, again: Police were called back to the 1600 block of East Ave. at 12:26 p.m. for a loud music complaint, the same property as the previous complaint from the day before. The offender, a 23-year-old man, was issued a citation.
Disturbance: Police were called to La Quinta Inn, 4917 Main St., at 6:10 p.m. for a disturbance caused by a 37-year-old man. The man was transported for treatment and advised not to return to the hotel.
Disturbance: Officers responded to an apartment on the 1900 block of Water St. at 7:29 p.m. when a 43-year-old woman reported a disturbance. All of the details were detected from the blotter.
Oops: A 16-year-old boy was cited for running a red light at Ellis St. and Michigan Ave. at 9:33 p.m.
Hacked: A 56-year-old man called police to the 1800 block of Prescott Dr. at 11:56 p.m. to report his computer and phone were hacked.
January 19
Crash: Police responded to a crash involving a 20-year-old man near Main and Third streets at 2:13 a.m. Additional details were redacted from the blotter.
Welfare check: Police were called to the South Point Laundromat, 2501 Church St., at 2:48 a.m., to check on an intoxicated man, age 43. The man said he was OK but refused to speak with officers further.
Ousted: Police were called to the downtown warming shelter, 1300 Main St., at 3:27 a.m. when a caller reported an unwanted man, age 49, who was “intoxicated, agitated, and swearing.”
Attempted theft: Police responded to the YMCA, 1000 Division St., at 1:20 p.m. when a caller reported that a known man, age 50, was drinking alcohol and attempted to steal another member’s backpack. The man was arrested on a probation violation.
High on meth: Police were asked to conduct a welfare check on a known 28-year-old man in front of Prevail Bank, 5709 Windy Dr., at 2:47 p.m. The man appeared to be “high on meth” and was found in possession of multiple knives and a meth pipe. No further details were included in the blotter.
Get out: Deputies were called to Morey’s Bar, 3601 East Maria Dr., at 10:28 p.m. when a caller reported two men, ages 46 and 21, were causing a disturbance. Police escorted the two out of the building and gave them a ride home due to the cold weather.
Panic without smokes: Police responded to the 2600 block of Bush Ct. at 11:37 p.m. when a known 38-year-old woman reported she was having a panic attic. When officers arrived, she seemed fine. “When it was clear that she was not going to get any [cigarettes] from us, she asked us to leave,” the blotter said. So they did.
Help: Ano officer stopped at Iris Ln. and Howard Ave. at 11:43 p.m. when a 19-year-old man reported having a flat tire and could not get a tow company to assist him.
January 20
Noise: Police responded to the 2700 block of Fifth Ave. at 2:33 a.m. when a caller reported loud music coming from an apartment there. The occupant, a 21-year-old man, agreed to turn off the music for the night.
Sighting: A 30-year-old man called 911 at 7:30 a.m. to report hearing a loud explosion and seeing a ball of fire go up into the air near the 200 block of Prentice St. Officers found no evidence of any explosion in the area.
Vaper: Police issued a warning to a student who was in possession of a vaping device at Ben Franklin Jr. High at 7:35 a.m.
What: Police responded to an incident at an undisclosed address at 12:08 p.m. when a caller, whose name and gender were not included in the blotter, said that a homemade bomb was detonated at his place of employment and that the employer was attempting to cover up the incident. Additional details were redacted from the blotter.
Disturbance: Police were called to the 1200 block of North Point Dr. at 11:10 p.m. when a caller reported a disturbance involving a 39-year-old woman and a man, age 36. Additional details were redacted from the blotter.
