Feb. 23

OWI: Police arrested a 29-year-old man on his first offense of operating while intoxicated near Clark St. and Minnesota Ave. at 12:31 AM.

Not a Burglar: Police responded to a 6:55 AM burglar alarm at Papa John’s, 101 Division St., but the suspect onsite turned out to be a food delivery driver. The drive was supposed to have a code for the delivery door, but did not. 

Harassment: A 23-year-old man called police from the 3600 block of Doolittle Dr. at 9:37 AM to report his ex-girlfriend, 21, was harassing him. 

Not the Brightest Thief: A 50-year-old man reportedly entered a business on the 1200 block of Second St. at 12 PM and stole an electronic tablet from the counter before fleeing. The man was later caught. 

Would-be Thief: Someone called 911 at 9:33 PM to report a suspicious male, 34, entered a vehicle that was not his own, rifle through its contents, then attempt to enter another vehicle. One of the vehicles was reportedly missing 16 CDs. The man was arrested on a charge of bail-jumping. 

Unhappy Convict: Additional members of law enforcement were called to the circuit court branch inside the courthouse at 3:05 PM after a disturbance caused by Michael D. Martin, 47, refused to be handcuffed after being found guilty as a repeat offender of child sex assault. Deputies eventually secured Martin and transported him back to jail to await sentencing. 

Feb. 24

Fistfight: Police were summoned to the 1000 block of Ellis St. at 5:58 PM after a caller reported a 16-year-old boy had punched a 15-year-old boy there following a verbal disagreement. 

Broken Nail: A 31-year-old woman called police at 10:42 PM after she said an argument on the 200 block of Prentice St. ended with her being pushed by a 42-year-old woman. The caller reportedly broke a nail during the incident. 

Bush Fatality: The owner of a bar on the corner of Portage and Second streets called police at 12:39 AM to report a vehicle had backed up into the landscaping outside of the bar.

Wannabe Wolf: A 32-year-old woman called deputies at 7:21 PM to report she believed people were making “wolf noises” in the woods surrounding her County Trunk B home. 

Sexual Assault: Police responded to a reported rape on Fifth Ave. at 12 AM. 

Feb. 25

Slide-in: Deputies responded to Hwy. 10 and Lake Dr. at 12:33 AM after a semi-truck slid into a ditch there. No injuries were reported. 

Texter: Deputies cited a 22-year-old man for texting while driving following a traffic stop at 9:07 AM near Lake Dr. and Hwy 10. 

Sexual Assault: A 51-year-old woman called deputies to report multiple female family members had been sexually assaulted. The woman learned the incident via text message, according to police reports.
