Police & Sheriff calls, December 15-17

December 15

Who knows: Police arrested a 54-year-old man from the Old Highway 18 Kwik Trip at 11:28 a.m. after he failed to identify himself.  The blotter did not indicate what the man was charged with.

Young toker: Police were called to Ben Franklin Jr. High at 12:15 p.m. when a student reported another student had possession of a THC vape pen. The student was referred to the juvenile court system for charges.

Who knows: Threats were reported to police at 12:59 p.m. on the 3200 block of Business Park Dr., but all details about the call were redacted from the blotter.

Rule breaker: A 44-year-old man was cited for driving after revocation during a traffic stop at Arby’s, 3115 Church St., at 1:49 p.m.

Wrong-way: An 87-year-old woman was issued a warning for driving the wrong way near Cleveland Ave. and Alice Ct. at 1:58 p.m.

Angry toker: Police were called to the 1200 block of River View Ave. at 6:28 p.m. when someone reported suspicious activity involving an intoxicated 69-year-old man. The man told police he was upset about getting a warning letter from his landlord about his marijuana use in the building.

Theft: A 47-year-old woman reported to police at 9:06 p.m. that a “highly intoxicated” man had taken her phone.

December 16

Tire-d: Police stopped a 78-year-old woman for driving slowly near Hwy. 10 and Country Club Dr. at 11 a.m. The woman claimed she was driving slowly because she’d just gotten new tires.

Crash: A 27-year-old man was cited for failure to yield following a two-vehicle crash at Ellis St. and Michigan Ave. at 11:10 a.m.

Love in the rinse cycle: Police were called to Seahouse Laundry, 2824 Stanley St., at 12:45 p.m., when a 35-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman got into an argument. The man threw the woman’s phone, but nothing else physical occurred.

Fraud: A 40-year-old man reported to police at 1:20 p.m. that someone had stolen his identity, but all other details were redacted from the blotter.

Debit fraud: A 51-year-old man reported to police at 2:38 p.m. that fraudulent charges from “all over the country” were being made on his debit card.

Dog-gone: Police were called to Portage and Union streets at 5:35 p.m. when a 70-year-old woman reported being attacked and bitten by a dog. The dog wasn’t located, but photos and a report were forwarded to the humane society.

Headlock: Police were called to the 200 block of Division St. when someone reported that one man had chased another, then put him in a headlock. No additional details were included in the blotter.

Lovers lane: Police issued a warning to a 23-year-old woman and a man, age 22, who were in the park after dark at Bukolt Park at 11:23 p.m.

December 17

Homeless: Police warned a 64-year-old homeless man who was in Mead Park after hours at 12:21 a.m. The man was given information about the warming shelter.

Not smart enough for Holiday Inn Express: Police and medics were called to Holiday Inn Express, 1100 Amber Ave., at 12:21 a.m., when a man reported getting high on a THC vape pen, had intercourse with his girlfriend, and then started to “get anxious and begin freaking out.” The man said he was concerned that there was fentanyl in something he drank or in the condom he used.

Red Foreman’s got a name for these guys: Police warned three young men, ages 21 and 23, for being in Mead Park after hours, at 12:29 a.m. One person, age 21, was also cited for possession of marijuana.

Homeless: Police stopped to conduct a welfare check on a 19-year-old man who was sitting in the lobby of an apartment building on the 1600 block of Fourth Ave. at 7:46 a.m. The man said he did not live there, that he was homeless, and was just charging his phone. The man was told to move along and given a list of resources for where he would sleep.
