December 20

Busted: Police arrested two people on outstanding warrants from the 600 block of Second St. North at 8:18 a.m.

Crash: Police were called to a two-vehicle collision at 9:18 a.m. on the 1500 block of Texas Ave. No injuries were reported but one driver declined to provide insurance information, instead offering to pay cash for the damages.

Minor speeder: A 16-year-old girl was cited for speeding at Sixth and Division streets at 10:53 a.m.

Not a threat: A 43-year-old man called police to report he’d received a threatening text message from a neighbor who was undergoing a difficult divorce. The message threatened legal action against the man for making a false allegation in the divorce proceedings. Officers explained to the man that threats of legal action were not considered a police matter.

Maybe pot: Police were called to the downtown library, 1001 Main St., at 2:25 p.m. when an employee reported finding a discarded bag that “smelled like marijuana.” No further details were included in the blotter.

Missing kid: Police were called to Washington Elementary School, 3500 Prais St., at 2:55 p.m. when a caller reported that a five-year-old student had left school grounds. No further details were included in the blotter.

Rape: A sexual assault was reported at an unknown time and an unknown location, as the entirety of the call was redacted from the blotter.

Angry poacher: An alleged poacher, whose age and gender were redacted from the blotter, called police to the 2300 block of Water St. to report suspicious activity, as he turned in two other people who were poaching with him.

Welfare check: Police were called to Econo Lodge, 5110 Main St., at 9:38 p.m. to conduct a welfare check on a 43-year-old man. The man was later taken to the downtown warming shelter.

Who knows: Police were called to the drive-up window at Associated Bank, 1305 Main St., at 11:20 p.m. for a “disturbance” involving five people, ages 19-45. The entire nature of the call was redacted from the blotter.

December 21

Sleeper: Police stopped to check on a 24-year-old man who appeared to be sleeping inside a running vehicle on the downtown Square at 2:02 a.m. The man was given a ride to a home in Plover.

Hit & run: A 23-year-old man called police to city parking lot 16 at 9:48 a.m. to report his vehicle had been struck by a passing vehicle while it was parked. The vehicle’s driver’s side mirror sustained damage.

Fraud: A 67-year-old man called police to the 3500 block of Bush St. at 11:41 a.m. to report someone fraudulently withdrew $100 from his bank account.

Not a gun: Police were called to Frederick St. and Bukolt Ave. at 11:56 a.m. when a caller reported a boy carrying a gun on the sidewalk. Officers reported the gun was “very obviously a toy and easy to distinguish from more than half a block away.” The child agreed to carry the toy in his backpack to avoid any further problems.

Trespasser: Police were called to a home on the 1900 block of Water St. at 12:22 p.m. when a property owner reported that a 43-year-old female tenant refused to leave after being evicted.

Crash: Police responded to a two-vehicle collision at Hwy. 10 East and Maple Bluff Rd. at 4:21 p.m. after a semi-truck crashed into another vehicle in the right-of-way. No injuries were reported.

Park fight: Police and deputies were called to KASH Park, 1201 West Whitney St., at 4:24 p.m. for a disturbance involving six people, ages 27-57. One person was arrested for disorderly conduct and bail jumping.

Drunk: Police were asked to check on a suspicious person outside a home on the 600 block of Union St. at 6:23 p.m. The man, 61, was “highly intoxicated” and officers contacted one of the man’s friends to take him home.

Missing: Police responded to the 2900 block of College Ave. at 6:45 p.m. when someone, whose age and gender were redacted from the blotter, was reported missing. The person was later located and taken home.

Gun, maybe: Police were called to a disturbance on the 1600 block of East Ave. at 8:47 p.m. when a woman reported her older brother making threats to shoot someone. No further details were included in the blotter.

Truck v ambulance: Police responded to a two-vehicle collision at Main and Division streets at 9:17 p.m. when a Stevens Point ambulance, driven by a 21-year-old firefighter/paramedic, ran a red light when a truck crashed into it. No injuries were reported, but the ambulance driver was cited, and the truck driver was arrested for OWI.

December 22

Lover’s quarrel: Police were called to the 200 block of Division St. at 1:03 a.m. when a 22-year-old woman reported a “minor argument about going to the bars.” The parties resolved their dispute before the police arrived.

Just tryin’ to sleep: Police were called to the Franciscans, 1000 Main St., at 2:02 a.m., when a man sleeping in the doorway reported that a Hispanic man yelled at him and showed him a bowie knife. No further details were included in the blotter.

Unhappy hotel customers: Police responded to Cobblestone Hotel and Suites, 1117 Centerpoint Dr., at 2:57 a.m. when two people, a 38-year-old woman, and a man, age 37, were arguing with a hotel clerk over a canceled reservation. The couple agreed to be driven home to Plover by one of the responding officers.

Noisy neighbor: Police responded to the 400 block of West St. North at 5:28 p.m. when neighbors complained to police that loud music could be heard from two homes away. The female resident, age 59, was warned to keep the music down. Police returned at 6:04 p.m. for a similar complaint.

Domestic: Police were called to the 600 block of John’s Dr. at 6:32 p.m. when a 39-year-old man reportedly pushed a 42-year-old woman, causing her head to strike an object. No further details were included in the blotter.

December 23

Rape: A sexual assault was reported at an unknown time and location, as the entire call was redacted from the blotter.

Worst place to avoid cops: Police responded to Five Below, 5601 Hwy. 10 East, when they noticed a running vehicle in the parking lot at 1:12 a.m. Two women were arrested after drug paraphernalia was found in the car.

Who knows: A 73-year-old man called police to report a property crime at his home on the 4700 block of Whitetail Dr. at 7:19 a.m., but no details were included in the blotter.
