Police & Sheriff calls, August 26-27

August 26

Speeder: A 49-year-old woman was issued a written warning for speeding near Whiting Ave. and River View Ave. at 8:11 a.m.

Violator: Police arrested a 56-year-old man for violating bond conditions near West Clark St. and West Zinda Dr. at 8:29 a.m.

Speed enforcement: Two people were issued written warnings for speeding near Whiting Ave. and River View Ave.; a 61-year-old man at 8:36 a.m., and a 22-year-old woman at 9:09 a.m.

Threats: Stevens Point police took a report from a third party about harassment and threats at 9:12 a.m.

Homeless camp: Police were alerted to a homeless camp off the walking trail on the 800 block of Whiting Ave. at 9:19 a.m. Two people, a 47-year-old woman and a man, age 39, were warned to remove their property by the end of the day, or the items would be disposed of.

Stop: Police issued a written warning to a 33-year-old woman for running a stop sign near the downtown square at 10:32 a.m.

Vandalism: A 53-year-old man called police to the 1500 block of Minnesota Ave. at 11:38 a.m. to report someone had vandalized his garage door. Additional details were redacted from the blotter.

Suspicious: Someone reported finding a knife on the 100 block of West Clark St. at 12:13 p.m. The knife was disposed of. No additional details were included in the blotter.

Publicly planning a murder: Police were called to the 3200 block of Jefferson St. at 2:07 p.m. when a 35-year-old man reported that his former mother-in-law had posted to Facebook that she was “planning his murder.” Additional details were not included in the blotter.

Crash: A two-vehicle collision was reported at the North Point Dr. roundabout at 2:54 p.m. No injuries were reported. One person was cited, but the blotter doesn’t indicate which driver or the reason.

Crash: Police responded to a two-vehicle collision at Hwy. 10 East and Badger Ave. at 3:03 p.m. A 39-year-old woman was cited for failure to yield.

Helping out: A police officer stopped to help a 62-year-old woman with a flat tire in the North Point Drive roundabout at 3:06 p.m.

Gutsy fraudster: A 45-year-old woman called police at 3:33 p.m. to report that an unknown person was impersonating her for the purposes of showing a rental property she owned on the 400 block of Frontenax Ave. Additional details were redacted from the blotter.

Suspicious: A 32-year-old man called police to the 900 block of Songbird Ln. at 5:09 to report that his front door was open when he returned home from work, although nothing was missing from the home.

Problems: A 38-year-old woman called police to the 1900 block of Water St. at 7:44 p.m. to report that a 61-year-old man was following her in an effort to get her into trouble.

Yelling match: Police were called to the YMCA, 1000 Division St., at 5:51 a.m. when two men, ages 28 and 31, got into a yelling match while they were working out.
