Police & Sheriff calls, August 25-26

August 25
Theft: An employee at Badger Heating and Air, 5348 Hwy. 10 East, called police at 8:39 a.m. to report someone had stolen about $2,000 worth of tools from a work vehicle. The company was working on downloading surveillance video for law enforcement.
Speeder: A 17-year-old man was cited for speeding on the 1200 block of North Point Dr. at 10:01 a.m.
Dead: Police stopped to assist a motorist whose vehicle battery had died near Church and Main streets at 10:44 a.m. Johnson Towing removed the vehicle for service.
Welfare check: Police were asked to conduct a welfare check on the 2600 block of Sunset Blvd., but all details were redacted from the blotter.
Warnings: Police were conducting extra patrol for speed enforcement near Whiting Ave. and Water St. at 11:35 a.m. Several warnings were issued.
Speeding: A 77-year-old man was issued a written warning for speeding near Whiting Ave. and River View Ave. at 12:19 p.m.
More speeding: Police issued a written warning to a 17-year-old girl for speeding near Whiting Ave. and River View Ave. at 12:35 p.m.
And again: A 75-year-old man was issued a written warning for speeding near Whiting Ave. and Howard Ave. at 12:58 p.m.
Once more: Police issued a written warning for speeding to a 30-year-old man near Whiting Ave. and Howard Ave. at 1:07 p.m.
Trespasser: Someone called police to the 1700 block of Briggs St. at 1:04 p.m. to report a known 25-year-old man was trespassing. The man was not present when an officer arrived.
Homeless problems: Police responded to the bus stop at 1200 Main St. at 1:30 p.m. when someone reported a verbal disturbance between several homeless people there. The argument started when one man interrupted another. The parties were told to “mind their own business and leave one another alone.”
Almost scammed: A 41-year-old man flagged down a patrol officer near Green Ave. and East Maria Dr. at 2:02 p.m. to report someone called him claiming they were “part of the cartel” and that he needed to purchase $750 in gift cards for them or they would “show up at his house.”
Tragedy: A 33-year-old man called police to the 2100 block of Madison St. at 2:09 p.m. to report that he believed two known persons, a 46-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man, had stolen his Xbox and two amplifiers. Additional information was redacted from the blotter.
It’s the right beer now: Police were called to Kwik Trip, 3533 Stanley St., at 3:39 p.m., when video surveillance showed a man taking a Coors Light from the cooler and into the bathroom. A short time later, employees noticed one of the toilets wasn’t flushing. Upon further inspection, the beer can was found in the toilet tank. No word on whether the beer can had been consumed.
Threats: A 49-year-old woman called police to the 3000 block of Lindbergh Ave. at 5:47 p.m. to report she was receiving threats from someone online.
Fight: Police arrested a 65-year-old man for disorderly conduct and misdemeanor battery after he got into a physical altercation with another man on the 1900 block of Texas Ave. at 7:33 p.m.
Fraud: An 81-year-old woman called police to the 200 block of Wilshire Blvd. at 8:08 p.m. to report a case of fraud, but all details were redacted from the blotter.
Mothers and daughters: A 66-year-old woman called police to the 1700 block of Plover St. at 9:21 p.m. to report a disturbance with her daughter. The younger woman “packed her stuff and left without issue.”
Poker in the rear: Police responded to a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of Ice Hawks Area, 801 Badger Ave., at 9:31 p.m. The man behind the wheel was playing poker on his phone. He was asked to leave.
August 26
Post-dinner nap: Police stopped at Mead Park at 12:13 a.m. when a park security officer reported two people sleeping in the park. The 37-year-old woman and 39-year-old man were already packing up to leave when law enforcement arrived, and claimed they’d merely fallen asleep following a cookout at the park.
Speed: A 20-year-old man was cited for speeding at Illinois Ave. and Clark St. at 12:58 a.m.
Lights: A 64-year-old woman was issued a verbal warning for driving without headlights near Green Ave. and Main St. at 1:05 a.m.
Lights, again: A 22-year-old man was issued a warning for driving without taillights and operating without insurance near Stanley and Fremont streets at 1:13 a.m.
Speed: An 18-year-old woman was cited for speeding near Clark St. and Michigan Ave. at 1:46 a.m.
