August 3
Homeless: Police found a homeless man, age 55, sleeping at Vice Admiral Park near the West Clark Street Bridge at 3:05 a.m. The man was moved along.
Ill-gotten booty: Police stopped a 53-year-old man in downtown Stevens Point for riding an unregistered bike. The man said he “took it” from the Mid-State area about a year before. He was warned against future theft and to get the bike registered.
Unregistered: Police warned a 56-year-old woman for nonregistration of her vehicle during a traffic stop near Ellis and Clark streets at 9:09 a.m.
Shame on you: Police were called to the 3200 block of Mary St. at 9:17 a.m. when a 74-year-old woman reported that her granddaughter had stolen from her 15 packages of ribeye, two two-pound bags of shrimp, and $610.
Non-stopper: Police cited a 23-year-old man for blowing a stop sign near Park Ridge Dr. and Sunset Blvd. at 10:23 a.m.
Fraud: Owners at Ski’s Meat Market, 5370 Hwy. 10 East, reported at 11 a.m. that someone had stolen a check from the business and cashed it. Further details were redacted from the blotter.
Seatbelt: A 32-year-old man was cited for not wearing a seatbelt on the 1800 block of Tamarack St. in Plover at 11:36 a.m.
Seatbelt: Deputies cited a 39-year-old man for not wearing a seatbelt at McDill Ave. and School St. at 12:10 p.m. He was also issued warnings for speeding and driving without a license.
Extra patrol: Police were contacted by Pixel management to conduct extra patrol near River View Ave. and Echo Dells Ave. at 12:41 p.m. because of ongoing homelessness issues in the area.
Wanted: Police arrested a 33-year-old man wanted for questioning in a Wausau-area shooting incident from Terrance Ln. and Leagy Ave. at 1:46 p.m.
Crash: Police cited a 19-year-old man for following too closely after a two-vehicle collision near River View Ave. and Water St. at 3:44 p.m.
Shoplifter: Police were called to Festival Foods, 1600 Academy Ave., at 4:05 p.m., when a minor was busted for retail theft. The minor, whose gender was redacted from the blotter, was cited.
Wannabe cowboy: Police cited a 17-year-old man for disorderly conduct with a motor vehicle after he was seen “tearing up the gravel parking lot” near the skateboard park at Bukolt at 4:32 p.m. The boy’s parents were also notified by phone.
Overnighter: Police cited a motorist, whose age and gender were not included in the blotter, at 4:45 p.m., for sleeping in a vehicle overnight in the former Shopko parking lot.
Suspended: Police cited a 61-year-old man for driving while suspended on the 1200 block of Main St. at 4:46 p.m.
August 4
Oops: Police were called to the Boys & Girls Club Berard Center, 941 Michigan Ave., at 12:18 a.m., when cleaning staff accidentally locked themselves out of the building mid-shift.
Drive-off: Deputies responded to Refill Pantry gas station, 281 Grand Ave. East, in Rosholt at 4:01 p.m. when a 54-year-old woman drove off after paying for over $70 worth of gas. The woman agreed to return and pay, saying it was her mistake.
Homelessness: Deputies were called to Upper Whiting Park in Whiting at 6:42 p.m. when someone reported a homeless 37-year-old woman staying in the park. The woman was advised of the county’s vagrancy laws, was given referrals for assistance, and moved along.
Homeless: Deputies were called to the boat launch at Jordan Pond at 11:37 p.m. and found a 20-year-old man and 19-year-old woman sleeping in a car there. The two said they’d been kicked out of her grandmother’s home. The duo was advised of the county’s ordinances and was moved along.
