Police & Sheriff calls, Aug. 23-25

Aug. 23

Crash: Police responded to a two-vehicle collision at Brilowski Rd. and Hwy. 10 East at 12:03 p.m. No injuries were reported.

 

 

 

Black Bridge handoff: Police were called to the Black Bridge at the end of Wisconsin St. when a caller reported a drug deal had occurred at 12:15 p.m.

Jerk: Someone left a dog inside a van, with its window up, in the parking lot behind Bill’s Pizza at 12:28 p.m. The humane society was called to the scene.

Bikes: A caller from the Portage Co. Library, 1001 Main St., reported two abandoned bicycles on the property at 3:26 p.m.

Clucking heads: A 36-year-old woman called police to the 5200 block of Forest Circle North at 6:03 p.m. to report her neighbors were “harassing her for having chickens.”

Cat lady: Police were called to Caribou Coffee, 151 Division St. North, at 6:02 p.m., when employees reported a woman with a cat had been sitting on the property for five hours and was refusing to leave.

Another jerk: Police were called to Hilltop Pub, 4901 Main St., at 6:18 p.m., when a caller reported someone left a dog in a truck with the windows up for over 30 minutes. The dog was barking and panting. The human society was called.

McComplaint: Officers were called to McDonald’s, 127 Division St. North, at 8:07 p.m., when someone reported a 67-year-old man, who had “been there all day” was threatening to call child protective services on a customer. No further details were released.

Trespasser: Someone called police to report a known woman was trespassing at Days Inn, 159 Division St. North, at 8:47 p.m. The woman was asking hotel guests for money and a ride to Louisiana.

Medical: Police and paramedics responded to KASH Park, 1201 West Whitney St., at 9:25 p.m., when a 54-year-old man passed out due to a previous medical condition.

Disturbance: Police were called to the 500 block of Mary Ann Ave. at 10:18 p.m. when a teenage girl reported her mother “put her in a chokehold” and her father was “throwing her around” the home. No further information was released.

Bad decision: A 72-year-old man called police to say he’d sent photos of himself to a woman online and was now being blackmailed. He sent the woman $1,100 and she was asking for $400 more. No further details were released.

Aug. 24

Bad moon rising: Police were called to 1430 Torun Rd. at 4:05 a.m. when a caller reported someone was pulling window screens off of a trailer home and “showed their rear through the window.”

Crash: Police responded to a two-vehicle collision in the parking lot of Trinity Lutheran Church, 1210 Rogers St., at 11:03 a.m. No injuries were reported.

Theft: An employee at Kwik Trip, 3258 Church St., called police at 12:22 p.m. to report a retail theft from the store had been captured on surveillance video.

Trespasser: Police were called to Country Inn Suites, 301 Division St. North, at 12:57 p.m. when a caller there reported a 32-year-old man was trespassing.

Welfare check: A caller reported to police at 1:58 p.m. that a two-year-old child was standing in the road at Church and Monroe streets. No further details were released.

Break-in: Police were called to the 1300 block of Michigan Ave. at 4:09 p.m. when a 35-year-old woman reported a break-in occurred the day before.

Kids: A 47-year-old man called police to the 3100 block of Michigan Ave. at 5:07 p.m. to report that his daughter’s friends were asked to leave the home and refused to do so.

Fire: Police and fire crews were called to 741 Johns Dr. at 6:42 p.m. when a caller reported smoke and flames coming from inside an oven.

Creepy: Police were called to Pfiffner Pioneer Park at 8:05 p.m. when a 20-year-old woman complained that a 58-year-old man was making “odd” comments to children there.

Aug. 25

Oh, my: Police were called to The Store, 201 West Clark St., at 3:52 a.m. when a caller reported suspicious activity in a vehicle. The car reportedly contained four people and one child, and the caller could see “heads bobbing” in the car.
