Police & Sheriff Calls, April 13-14

Editor’s Note: More than 300 slide-ins were reported across Portage Co. over the weekend. For the sake of time, we will not be including them all in today’s blotter. 

April 13

Pizza Bandit: A 45-year-old man called police at 12:54 a.m. to report someone had stolen his pizza while at Toppers Pizza earlier that night. No report on the pizza’s toppings.

Littering: Police arrested a man for littering near West Clark and West Pearl streets at 1:25 a.m. Additional details were not immediately available.

Cujo’s Cousin: Police were contacted after a 27-year-old woman was bitten by a dog on the 800 block of Portage St. at 6:39 p.m. The dog was not current with his shots and was taken to the humane society; the woman reported was treated for minor injuries at the hospital.

Midnight Shopper: Deputies responded to a call of two suspicious men, ages 23 and 27, walking with flashlights around a car dealership lot at 2:11 a.m. on the 4400 block of 80th St. South in Wisconsin Rapids. The men told deputies they were car shopping.

Auto Theft: Deputies arrested a 28-year-old man on the 1100 block of County Trunk D in Almond at 3 a.m. on charges of disorderly conduct and taking a vehicle without consent.

April 14

Drank Too Much: Deputies summoned an ambulance to the 1800 block of Pella Dr. at 2:10 a.m. after finding two teenage girls had alcohol poisoning.

Fire: Law enforcement assisted firefighters responding to a chimney fire on the 6700 block of Shady Dr. at 5:35 p.m. No injuries or major damage was reported.

Mailbox Fatality: A 67-year-old man reported to police that his mailbox was damaged on the 5300 block of Carol’s Ln. at 4:18 p.m.

Stuck on the Tracks: Police arrested a 21-year-old man for operating under the influence after his vehicle got stuck on the railroad tracks on the 2600 block of Wayne St. at 3:29 a.m.
